I have to say that I chose it at random last week on the basis vaguely remembering it as delicate and haunting, but I didn't think that anyone would count it as one of their favorites. I'm glad to learn I was wrong about that. It's as delicate and as haunting are I remember it being, and I had forgotten about how beautiful the coda is with Ferry vocalizing. And since the LP was already on the turntable, I listened to the rest of it too--funny how much better it sounds than I remember it--I'd really liked _Boys and Girls_, and originally thought BN far inferior. Kathryn Kuhlman was one of the sampled evangelists and her estate (or maybe it was the K.K. Well, I'll go to the foot of our stairs, so it does. Have to say I'd never bothered looking at the cover too closely to notice it tucked away in the corner. I certainly never really thought of it as an '801' album given that the only common denominators are PM, me and my brother (in terms of the songs) and Simon Ainley on vocals. It certainly wasn't a 'group' album in any sense as there were three different sets of backing tracks featuring different drummers: Phillips, Mattacks and Bill Bruford (none of which were used). Oh well, though, there goes my perfectly logical explanation! :-) BM ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 03 Nov 2001 10:31:56 -0800 From: David Firmin Subject: [AVALON] Some interesting Eno facts Around Christmas 1970, he was eking out a living in London as a secondhand-electronics dealer. It is on Angel Air and would like to suggest Roxy get a live deal from these guys(girls too oops) They do cater to the artist. With Virgin out of the picture contractually, this would work. Get out those BBC tracks and other goodies. The aforementioned Mott tracks were from personal tapes of Mott members......c'mon this makes for better online talk than what has been the main topic recently..... Bill Mac, if you are out there today what is your opinion on this.
