You've got a good sense Actually, for the issues and topics that KB is referring to, the FAQ will not be of assistance as it does not deal with the personality and metaphysical issues of the Avalon mailing list. KB's advice is sound. 4 months may seem like a long time to lurk (and it is), but the list has been in existence now for 7 or 8 years so other issues and areas of friction are not going to be immediately apparent. Even as a relative old-timer I can't remember all the ins and outs of long ago controversies and therefore tend to hold my own tongue more than not. > of that now, I suspect. Just stick around. Sooner or later someone > will say something intelligent and/or interesting about Roxy. Maybe > not today, the way things are going ... I think for the most part, when the list sticks to the topic at hand, intelligent and/or interesting comments about Roxy and Ferry are the norm here. And please remember that the list is not designed to be passive entertainment. Subject: [AVALON] Re: Sun Record Tribute Got my" Good Rockin Tonight" yesterday at Best Buy, all new ones that first come in are always for $11.99 the first week. I must say Bryan's "Don't Be Cruel" is very good. When I asked the guy at the store had it come in, his reply was yes & I got it for myself. Then proceeded to ask me if I knew who Ferry was , that he sounded so much like Elvis doing DBC. I laughed & told him that was one of the reasons I wanted the CD. - ---Mc Cartney's That's All Right is very good. ----Elton John's Whole Lotta Shakin Going On ---Jeff Beck & C. Hyde do a very good "Mystery Train". Bob Dylan, Van Morrison & Carl Perkins are also outstanding. There's a bonus track "You Win Again" with Mandy Burnett with the Jordanaires. I just wish PBS would hurry up & air the 2 hr.special as old Mississippi Delta musicians, do a moving rendition of Lonely Weekend's with J.L. Lewis & Matchbox 20. The work of many original Sun artists are reprised in the 2 hr.American Master's film. Hope to hear how some of you like the CD. Angel Air products are always uniformly wonderful, with great informative booklets, rare pictures, and Mott the Hoople's "Two Miles From Live Heaven" is no exception. I have all their material on MTH, Mick Ralphs, Verden Allen, Mott and the British Lions but they have displayed some remarkable talent in picking up and reissuing old material from many other artists. The readers can check the evidence for themselves at: www.angelair.co.uk. Maybe they can secure whatever licenses are necessary and produce a whole series of Official Bootlegs of Roxy Music concerts. It is on Angel Air and would like to suggest Roxy get a live deal from these guys(girls too oops) They do cater to the artist. With Virgin out of the picture contractually, this would work. Get out those BBC tracks and other goodies. The aforementioned Mott tracks were from personal tapes of Mott members......c'mon this makes for better online talk than what has been the main topic recently..... Bill Mac, if you are out there today what is your opinion on this.
