I can see it from both sides I guess. Some people would be offended if comments are a bit "basic". I don't think there's anything wrong with what eman said as such, but maybe he made too big a deal out of the penis comments that he had in response. I assumed there would be more to it than there was and I apologise for that. I tend to side with the under dog. Obviously that's not *always* the right side to be on. I must say, though, that the replies from MonquiBoy and the mysterious Mr. Avalon had me giggling, and that's a good thing. After the many OT postings in the wake of the "big hit," as my 7-yr-old calls the bad stuff in Sep., there seemed to be a list consensus that we'd better stick with the topic. It was said by more than one listmember that this list is valuable for the escapism and entertainment needed in our generally stressful lives. Yes, the information and serious insight are most meaningful to me, but a good laugh that's not at the expense of others' feelings can also linger pleasantly for a long time. That's what I read into Monq's and A-Baloney's posts, and I for one approve. A little on the dull and uninspired side but at least they didn't murder the song. The other b-side on CD2, "Thinking the Unthinkable" didn't hold my interest. The b-sides on CD1 are actually pretty good and they've had some bad b-sides for this album (like "Get Me To a Monastery" *shudder*). I actually like "No Excuses." *gasp* "Les Jour Tristes" is written by Neil and the *wonderful* Yann Tiersen so not exactly a TDC song. Maybe he should collaborate with Yann more often. No, I was simply pointing out the irony, if not outright hypocrisy, of a person who routinely contributes content of a cruder and/or aggressive variety to be ranting about same (which, as shown, existed only in his mind anyway). As KB mentioned, he was similarly disruptive during his other stay on the list, to the point where the list owner felt he had to step in. When I saw that somebody was actually buying this crap -- which affects another list member -- this time around, I felt somebody should finally step up and contradict him by presenting the actual facts he prefers to only allude to. I might be in a minority here, but did anyone else have a good time this summer? I did... Jonathan Sorry for being so late on this one. Yes, I did and it was because of Roxy ( and a week later Iggy Pop). I was very excited about seeing them again. I was very pleased with the Sound Opinions Radio show about Roxy in Chicago the week before the concert. Those who heard it know why. I also had a good time hanging out with my pals in the Chicago Martini Mob. My only beef this summer was the choice of venue, the SFX owned Allstate Arena. That and the yahoos who just showed up to be part of the "happening" and get up every five minutes to get beer. Yes, the same yahoos who somehow got the better seats down front. Boo! Other than that, I got a brand new computer (finally),I managed to get back to Holland for 6 days in August and had a great time. Too bad I was not there at the time as Roxy. Summer was good. Fall is not so good. Eman I agree with you. You pay what you are willing and able to pay and more power to you if you get what you want. $600 for Roxy? Maybe. If Hendrix or if all the Beatles were alive, I'd pay whatever the asking price was to that close to them. You're right about that other issue too. I for one skip over posts I have very little interest in. Some of it does get a bit thick and obscure. You have every right to express your opinions without being scolded or attacked. The first album it appeared on was ROXY MUSIC GREATEST HITS, released 19th November (Christmas cash in anyone) 1977. It came in a very poorly designed sleeve, the first of many compilations with poorly designed sleeves. But the real answer to your question was no & yes!!!. A little on the dull and uninspired side but at least they didn't murder the song.
