The excerpt concerning his smoking is as follows: "As for playing live again, 'I dread it, really. It's the preparation and commitment to doing it every night I can't handle. I'm not very healthy. I used to have tonsilitis all the time, and now I don't have the tonsils, I cough instead. That's why I stopped smoking four years ago. Every winter I was in such pain I had to stop.'" Time permitting, and if there aren't copyright concerns, I can transcribe the rest of the article for posting somewhere. Is anyone interested in hosting it (assuming it's not already available somewhere)? I can understand the feelings of those who are mourning the end of the road, but surely I can't be the only person on this list who felt utterly uplifted by Tuesday night? The concert itself was a surprisingly emotional affair for me - moved to floods of tears by Song For Europe; lots of big laughs (e.g. Manzanera and Spedding playing together on Both Ends Burning - even Ferry was nearly cracking up over their antics) and I still felt charged the next day. Great to meet all those Avalonians too; really made the whole evening something special as well as the gig itself. I won't try and say hello by name in case I leave anyone out, but special greetings to Ed, Renata and Esther, who were the only others sensible enough to head for Bar 38 afterwards and cop a pint or 2 of the amber nectar. Cheers! Here's hoping there will be other Avalon meet-ups to come. Who is this Kieron Fallon? Does the band know that he is lying online to try and shift tickets for them? I think they should be told and the guy should lose his job and a few choice parts of his anatomy. I didn't see the bullshit Eno line before attending the gig, thankfully, but if I had and I'd taken it seriously, I would have been seriously disappointed. Could have cast a pall over what, as it happened, was an extremely enjoyable event. How does the Mpls show I recorded compare? I know there were better shows...
