I can picture a few of them (I used to work not far from there at one time) and they're all pretty scuzzy. Infact most of Hammersmith is pretty grotty. Historically before Roxy gigs everyone used to meet in the upstairs bar at the Apollo (or Odeon as it was), clock each other and lean over the balcony eyeing up the talent on the way in. Kept us amused for hours. But if anyone has a pre-gig venue in mind, all suggestions welcomed. Fabulous security - - as in non-existant - we joined the charge early on and ended up dead centre about three rows back. I had heard about Glasgow crowds but had never experienced anything like this. I particularly enjoyed the Glaswegian behind me who shouted "Go on yersel, Andy" at every solo - wonderful! Did anyone else catch the moment when Phil turned to Chris (I think) towards the end when we were shrieking particularly loudly and said "Holy Shit" ?!! Fairly easy to lip read so I'm sure that's what he said. They really did look stunned at the noise we were making on many occasions and were all obviously having a ball. Sorry not to get to meet any of you, apart from Reecey, but we were with my sister and brother in law and they think this list is weird, although they were quite happy to share in the tickets I managed to get thanks to Avalon, and weren't overly-keen to socialise. Maybe at Hammersmith on Tuesday. Jane. Still stunned and very tired as I spent the night singing the concert through in my head, and every time I closed my eyes a pair of pale blue ones were looking back at me. I'm definitely losing it. ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2001 20:40:35 +0100 From: Peter Dewey Subject: [AVALON] Tuesday Hello, I may have a spare, as my wife can't go, Block 24 Row J, quite good ticket, although next to me! email privately if interested. - -- Peter Dewey ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2001 20:02:33 +0000 From: "Tracy Connell" Subject: [AVALON] Glasgow Gig Well, Glasgow was Excellent - I thought Newcastle in June was the best I'd ever seen but this beat even that. Bryan looked like he was thoroughly enjoying himself, especially when the 'ROXY' chants began. A handful of us rush to the front as the opening music began, much to the protest of a single security woman who obviously lost her battle to make us return to our seats. Two seconds later and everyone else had rush forward. She didn't stand a chance! At the beginning everyone on stage stopped for a second and looked at each other. I'm not sure what happened (maybe another Avalonian noticed what it was all about). Then they began - Brilliant. I guess most of you will know how the rest of it goes. I'm sure other Avalonians will fill you in on the set details. About half way through, though, between songs we all started the 'Roxy' chant. Bryan loved it. He was laughing and looking at the other band members. He was enjoying every minute of it! One bonus in Glasgow was that two of Bryan's son's were there in front of the barrier. They seemed to love it. They were chanting 'Roxy' with the rest of us and one of them even shouted Bryan. They were so cute. The sticky up hair seems to run in the family. I remembered something Bryan said on that internet chat a while ago when someone asked if his boys take advice from him on style. Bryan said that they take his sartorial advice with scorn and that they looked like they had been dragged through a hedge backwards. He wasn't far off the mark - in the nicest possible way of course. At the end Phil threw some plectrums into the audience. The youngest boy who was in front of me at the time managed to find one on the floor next to him. I'm sure others will fill you in what I've missed. I must say that a bit of luck for me was that about 5 of us found our way to the back of the stadium afterwards. We saw Bryan being driven out of the building. He slowed down and shook our hands. I thought I was going to miss him as the car kept moving but he saw me (I don't know how 'cos anyone who has met me will know that I'm not very tall!) and he reached his hand out to me and shook my hand. What a night! Anyway, I'm sure the final two concerts will be even better. Pity I can't make them. To anyone whose going - have a great time!!! And if you talk to Bryan send him my love from Newcastle if he's not in a mad rush to get away. Well, look out for the reviews from the experts, Take care, Tracy. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2001 13:03:48 -0700 From: "Eman 97" Subject: [AVALON] Roxy Kidz!
