If so, why? As per Jim's reply, yes! Brian Eno is not in this picture! Although I think Stranded is RM's best album (so does Eno), the best song by song material is on those first two IMHO. As for EJ not getting in to Studio 54, the very idea that Elton would be barred, considering all the coke he was doing at that time...oh, you meant Eddie Jobson. Also, some time back (I've been offline following a still unresolved tiff with my PC), someone asked if anyone else had ever asked for #50 or more for seats at Hammersmith. I know I paid #50 to see David Bowie play there with Amazulu in 1983 on the Serious Moonlight tour. However, that show was for a CHARITY development in Brixton. I think the list has already resolved to see the 2001 #50 seats as Roxy's retirement plan rather than a reflection of an improved show? Maybe it's to pay for a special camera crew commissioned for a DVD recording (is this actually happening?) or to cover extra costs associated with luring Eno out of recluse for just these London dates (dreaming on), but I see offshore financial acumen planning Roxy's longer term future with the dosh. Make the process easy for the person making your CDs. Send a stamped, self addressed, bubble-pac lined shipping package "inside" the package containing your blank CDs. This way all they have to do is make your CDs then drop it in a mail box. But at the very least, please don`t forget to add postage and extra money for the shipping package. Its also much more in line with Ferrys glamorous worldview compared to the Eno satire suggestion. However the latter cannot be totally disregarded. After all Eno himself (as well as Roxy manager David Enthoven) claimed years later that Ferry dumped him out of jealousy because he was pulling more women. Regardless, the Ferry v Eno issue is not completely redundant because its a good analogy of the differences between the two types of Casanova the original and the remake. Boths intentions are sleazy and sinister. Both view women as a conquest. Eno is the Country Life Casanova. Hes wild, unrestrained, out of control, forceful and lecherous in his attempts to conquer. Ferry is the Lets Stick Together Casanova. Hell conquer with silky smooth panache in an understated and discreet manner. But from whos point of view is the song written from? Is it Ferry himself, is it the Casanova, is it the woman who has been seduced by the Casanova, or is it the woman who has refused to relent to the Casanova? The last line I know my place is here with you tonight but not together suggests the latter. She is disgusted by the Casanovas sordid intentions. This bitterness is absent in the LST version. Perhaps here the woman is aware of the Casanova s cruel intentions yet respects them for what they are. On FYP: more good stuff. All I can add is the brilliance of Ferrys disappearing act after his first chant of Tara, the band taking over for the rest of the number. On A Wasteland: This is a cut off the Valentine instrumental (b-side on the Slave To Love single). I always thought of it as little more than an interlude in the proceedings, a build up to Windswept and perhaps of Ferrys ultimately indecisive desire to put a full length instrumental on the Boys & Girls album. Im a fan of the album but this track seems rather pointless to me. Maybe someone could persuade me to change my mind if it happened to be the topic of the next SOTW. I guess it's alright for its type of cocktail lounge background stuff but God forbid Bryan ever ends up crooning this song this way in his Vegas lounge show. Do they have venues like Vegas-style showrooms in Brighton or other British resorts (Brighton is a resort, isn't it?) Musical value aside, can anyone make a case for spending money once again on the "re-mastered" Bete Noir and Mamouna? I can't imagine the sonic qualities are that big of an upgrade, given they both were released originally in the digital age. Well Arnie it didn't do much for me either, I'm almost compelled to say it sucked. Left me really empty feeling and I had to turn it off. The nod goes to Matts Anderson though, for his version.
