Out of curiousity, what hotel were you (and they) at?? (The Four Seasons? The Ritz?) I too, was at that fantastic Saturday night show and enjoyed every minute. It was the last night of our "summer vacation" and was the perfect finale. My husband and I were SO psyched to have the chance to see Roxy Music in Boston (or anywhere!), especially since they passed us by in Colorado this time. Our friend had a pair of seats which she shared with us -- 24th row center -- and we bought an additional single seat in the 31st row (on the side). My husband decided, minutes before the show started, to check out "alternative seating options" and found 4 empty seats in the FIRST row where he made himself comfortable. He motioned to us to join him and in a matter of minutes all 3 of us were dancing up front and enjoying Bryan and the entire band at close range. Can you believe no one ever came to sit in these seats?? We had them for the whole show ... The experience of being that close is so fantastic! It really makes for a different experience altogether. Bryan seemed in amazingly good spirits, delighting us along with delighting himself. I love to see artists and musicians so passionate and totally enjoying themselves. The key to an outstanding show. Highlights included: "My Only Love", "Oh Yeah" -- a definite high point "...there's a band playing on the radio ..." One of several times Bryan strolled over to our side, looking right at us-- almost dancing along with us. It was so cool. Very thrilling, "Jealous Guy", "Street Life," "Dance Away" (not usually one of my favorites but it was so much fun to DANCE and the song never sounded better), "The Strand", and "Love is the Drug". We were dancing all night and it was a blast. This brings me to the subject of dancing at concerts. Early in the show when I was sitting in the 24th row seats, the vast majority of people were sitting, and only some standing even at the ends of songs. I tried to be respectful and sit (for the most part, cheering and standing between songs. ) But when Roxy Music broke into the opening of "My Only Love", one of my favorite Roxy songs, there was no way I could sit ! After all, I am a mere mortal. There I was standing up and dancing at a rock concert (sin of sins) and a security person tapped me on the shoulder and told me I couldn't stand. She was nice enough, however, to tell me that I could dance in the aisle. No sooner did I move out to the aisle to continue dancing, another less polite security person told me I could NOT dance in the aisle. Anyway, that's when I went straight up to the front row for good!! In the front, dancing and being excited is generally more acceptable. I can understand the objection to standing if it's Pavarotti or someone, but we are talking about dance music - -- rock and roll. Just had to get that rant out. And now for our attempt at "stage door stalking." After the show, we waited outside with about 5 other fans in hopes of seeing the band as they left the "after show". Everyone was really nice and sharing stories ... after about 45 minutes, an SUV tears out of nowhere and passes us by. In an instant I caught the profile of Bryan sitting in the front passenger's seat but it didn't appear that he even saw us. So sad. Anyway a fabulous, fun night. And not to be greedy, but I'd sure love to see them perform again. Perhaps not the talent of a great great artist ( as if you knew or cared!) but something. A talent. Just like Roxy Music itself. An interesting talent. No less, but no more. God help us when the talentless and ignorant decide what career is to live or die! Democracy - makes ya sick, don't it? Wait a minute., isn't that what we supposedly live in? A culture where mister Thomas Wallace has a say? At least we can be sure that Mister Bryan Ferry, God bless him, for all his faults, is unlikely to listen to such a crass judgement. We hope! The concert was worth every cent!! It was an absolute delight to meet Brisbane locals Sharon and David whom I contacted via the Avalon listing. Met up with them before the show and then shared a taxi on the way home! What great people Avalon brings together. My brief review of the concert should be posted on one of the usual sites relatively soon. Setlist in Brisbane was the same as in Los Angeles 7th August minus Mother of Pearl. The band played for 100 minutes (for those of you adding up the time on stage over the whole tour!!!) Highlights? Bryan was in fine vocal form, TGPT was awesome, Phil was brilliant as was Andy. Everything we could have wished for and more. Supporting cast was also fantastic.-(Lucy, Colin, Chris, Zev, Julia and Sarah) Roll on Melbourne......
