I felt like sending them a recording via Bill Mac on the > Manzanera site... I don't have any boots from the F+B tour and I had never heard 'over you' live. Come to think of it, I never liked 'My Only Love' until I heard the live version on 'The High Road.' And Colleen said: > However, it's not like it was all bad. Please don't misunderstand me. OOTB is another chestnut that came off very well live this time around, thanks largely to Lucy Wilkins, who absolutely nailed the closing violin solo. I had mixed expectations coming in. On one hand, I had never seen Roxy/Ferry live. On the other hand, I have heard lots of live performances on boots, and I have thought some of them sounded lifeless and repetitive. Personally, I would have been happy if the show had opened with 'Serenade' and closed with 'Bitters End.' But I knew better -- this had to be a greatest hits tour. All in all, I came away impressed. I'm glad I caught both show, and I envy everybody who has seen any or all of the rest of the tour. Colleen also said: > Speaking of my companions, one of the best parts of the weekend had to be > meeting up with various the Avalonians in attendance, whether it was > seeing old friends again or putting faces to (screen)names. And the rest of the weekend on Cape Cod was pretty damn > fine, too. Thanks to everyone who made it such a great time. I'll second that. I had a blast rendezvousing with list members (around eleven of them, I think). I wish I could have made Boston and New York, but I think I freaked out my family by road-tripping off to two shows in two night. As my eleve year old daughter said when she heard of my plans, "Isn't that a bit irrelevant?" Then Heather said: > So Bryan fluffed a line ... so Andy squonked a few off key notes (hey, > thats not new!) ... > I mean - its a TOUR - you want it perfect, you stay home and play yer CDs. > It sure sounds to me like a lot of folks DID enjoy the show. No doubt. I sure as hell did. For me, it was the concert of a lifetime. I almost sneaked off to Atlanta for tonight's show but work got in the way. ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Jul 2001 00:21:02 -0400 From: "Grant Goggans" Subject: [AVALON] I'm a liar Hey Simon: I lied. South GARLAND? Nooooo! Yes Richard, all my life I've been called Judy Garland or Judy Holliday and I can't even sing. . . . but I would look good dressed in red feathers and dancing. Irrelevant or not, I'd like to apply for a spot on the next tour now. Koetting" Subject: [AVALON] The Atlanta Show... . I thought I was going to melt from the heat... However, I had a phenomenal time and met some great folks, although no one from this list... Something about Fado afterwards? (Far too heterosexual for me... ) Went there and found no Avalonians as far as I could tell... I work as a wine retailer for a restaurant in Atlanta and I generally work far too many hours to count. I woke up this morning not even completely realizing Roxy would be in town tonight yet it finally ocurred to me later in the afternoon. Anyway, I finally decided to leave work about 6:30 which is roughly 3-4 hours earlier than I usually leave. I thought I'd take my chances and drive down to see if tickets were available and lo and behold I got a ticket for $40 for a table! Cool! I had brought a bottle of wine (Cline Zinfandel, "Live Oak," Contra Costa 97) and started having fun. Rufus Wainwright started the show, but he was not very appealing.. Roxy Music, however, were in great form.. The best songs included "Oh Yeah, "Jealous Guy," and "For Your Pleasure.." Heh, ideally they would have played for another four hours, including "Mother of Pearl," "More Than This," and perhaps the evocative "Spin Me Round," but I certainly enjoyed the environment and sounds at the Chastain park concert... Would love to hear about others' experiences! greggie/atlanta "Now the ballroom's empty..." ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: 27 Jul 2001 07:40:01 -0000 From: roxylia@freemail.it () Subject: Re: [AVALON] Milan they say tickets won't be available before end of august.
