I met a few really nice people-some that were really there for the later period roxy and some that were old school fans. there weren't too many people standing up and dancing throughout the show until the end-then everyone got up. For anyone going on tuesday-don't rush to see Rufus Wainwright-you could miss him and not really miss anything. He got a cordial reception and it was a clear he had a couple of fans there-but if you're running late or have something better to do-don't worry. No Virginia Plain. No Amazona. Yes In Every DreamHome a Heartache. Highlights: the first Manzanera guitar solo. Lucy Wilkins dancing and doing Out of the Blue. Paul Thompson's amazoing rock hard drumming. Andy Mackay's existence as one of the coolest people on the planet and oh yeah his playing. I'll leave the song by song to others. I thought I was going to get all misty eyed and stuff but I didn't and it hit me why-they didn't let me. They didn't come off as some nostalgia band getting together for one last hurrah. Their music is just as vital, forward looking as it ever was. I guess they were so ahead of their time and we still haven't caught up. They played and gave your money's worth. My only quibble is a reliance on some of the later stuff. I could have easily done without Heart Still Beating, Jealous Guy, Avalon, Oh Yeah and taken anything from the first 4 albums. But what the hell. I went with friends tonight and am going with the bride tomorrow. When I got home I told the bride that it was great and she replied "did you think there was even the remotest chance you weren't going to like the show?" Personally, I've heard it so many times that it's one of my least favourite tracks. Having said that, maybe it's a song that Ferry particularly likes to perform, and maybe he doesn't tire of it - maybe he actually enjoys performing it more than "Streetlife" or whatever, who knows... It's also a case of catering for the masses, as it's a song that he's almost obliged to perform at gigs. Aleks Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo!
