Actually: we find "I was blind" in the Gospel according to St. John (9.25) too; and after those words, the lyrics mention Heaven: "Heaven knows, I believe". Even the phrase "All the world.. should learn to love the way I do" does not sound romantic or related to any love affairs, in my opinion, but reminds the Gospel's commandment. Oh, but I may be wrong... My two cents. Official Announcements from the PR companies 2001-07-14 07:45:41 The Best of The Old Grey Whistle Test DVD The BBC have announced "The best of the Old Grey Whistle Test" for release on the 17th of September. For those of you who don't remember the show "The Old Grey Whistle Tes"t was one of the UK's most influential live music shows. Launched in September 1971, it hosted performances from the world's foremost bands and performers. Throughout its seventeen-year run, The Old Grey Whistle Test pioneered live music television shows, unafraid of broadcasting some of the more raw, cutting edge performances and interviews, and introducing the nation to new bands who were later to become world-famous music legends. Penthouse:Do you find women at all predictable? Ferry:Sure,if you know them very well, then you know how they react.I think they're less predictable than men, obviously. Penthouse:A lot of men would say you've got it on a plate.you can,to a certain extent, pick and choose? Ferry:Because one is well known or reasonably well? It's good in one way and bad in others because since you're recognised wherever young people are anyway, your much more conscious, that much more aware of what you're doing,so against the number of places you can go there are a lot you can't.I can't go to any old pub now, because it's just too embarrassing.People come up to you, which is very nice, but you just don't want it.Or in a discotheque or anything like that.So you couldn't go to a sort of normal scoring situation, for instance, and try to pull a girl. Therefore the opportunities to meet people are much less. But whenever you are somewhere where you can meet somebody, the chances of you scoring are much greater. If you go to a party or something like that.people know who you are and girls will be that much more interested in you because you're a face or a name-and that interests me,the fact they like you for the wrong reasons, which would screw a lot of people up,but doesn't bother me at all.It makes it that much more intriguing. Penthouse:Do you have any particular sexual fantasies you'd like to act out? Ferry:I never sit around thinking about the wilder sexual depravities as such although I wouldn't rule out the possibility of them.Like I wouldn't rule out the possibility of more than one person being involved. Penthouse:Two women? Ferry:Yes. Penthouse:Have you actually done that? Ferry:Yes,It's just that talking about a thing like love, which I won't say is an everyday incident-I don't have crowds of girls around me all the time, but it dosn't seem like a very big deal if I sit here and talk about it. Penthouse:It makes it seem more than it is? Ferry:Right. But I suppose that happens quite rarely with most people.I suppose most of their lives are spent in very mundane-not mundane, but very regular sexual activities. Penthouse:Was it worth it? Ferry:Well, any new experience is worth it. Penthouse:Might you reach a stage where ordinary sex would pall you? Ferry:Yes.I think you can.You see,sex to me is still a very mysterious activity,I always found it a very curious idea.It motivates so many different things. The sex act itself is a curious performance when you consider how many things it is responsible for. Most things that people do are motivated by sex and certainly a lot of music is inspired by sex.So I think to kind of rationalise it in any way spoils it and having to form any rational ideas about it also spoils it.To have a girl in the same situation that you find a girl in,or one set of clothes you find a girl attractive in.that are the best for you,but I'd hate to actually sit down and try and think about it because that would spoil it for other occasions.Do you get many letters about bondage and stuff like that at Penthouse? Penthouse:Does bondage appeal to you? Ferry:Well.nothing is out of the question.Put it that way. Penthouse:There are sexual activities you still would like to try? Ferry:I suppose so,because every person is different. Penthouse:Would that be you, tied up? Ferry:Certainly not me.No.I'm what you'd call a dictator,a sex tyrant. Penthouse:Have you ever imposed your own sexual wishes on a woman?Have you actually raped a woman? Ferry:I don't think so .There were some border line cases but nobody has ever complained to the police . Penthouse:Coming back to these to girls? Part 4 soon, dont go away now ya hear....... ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 16 Jul 2001 13:37:56 -0700 From: William Sommers Subject: Re: [AVALON] 1-5 Give me a Better 1-5 At 05:55 PM 7/16/01 +0100, terrypaulrigz8c wrote: > and still buy music hoping for the same thrill that these songs gave > me, I may go to my grave dissapointed, although Gary Numans album > "Pure" came closer than anything in a long time ! Dear Ole-Petter, I second your opinion: Oceanic Feeling by Christian Soetemann's group Cryptic Scenery is a very good album. I like it very much, and especially the tracks "My Mother Flies" and "The Chill". The album has a warm and tender atmosphere. Anybody who likes Eno, should immediately buy this album! Christian is rather modest about it, but he composed the music, wrote the (slightly cryptic) lyrics, and recorded it together with his band Cryptic Scenery. Christian did the vocals and played several instruments. I hope he will continue in this direction! Btw, my wife and I spent our holidays in your beautiful country Norway, where we had a lot of "fjord pleasure"! The Geiranger fjord is magnificent. And also, driving Trollstigvegen, a narrow and dangerous road high over the mountains, above the clouds, whilst playing Eno/Cale's "Wrong Way Up" (really!) is quite a surrealistic experience! Someone report the following interview from the NY Daily News - 7/16/01, which I'll excerpt in pertinent part: "The number of people who come up to me and say, 'Oh, we got married to "Avalon"' or 'We called our daughter Avalon' ... We'd get stoned to death if we didn't do those songs." So, are we allowed to take buckets of rockets into the venue with us? ;-) Or wait, maybe I'm misreading the word "stoned." Maybe the reason why "Avalon" sucked in the UK tour was that, well, they were too stoned to play it well. (obviously just kidding on that one, as from what I've heard the older, far more demanding material was magnificent). It was a great show. For those wondering if Avalon would be back it is ( at the expense of in every dream home a heartache from the last show in Europe. I envy everyone on the list who is seeing more than one show and am still praying they will announce a Paris show that coincides with my trip (I may have to take a roadtrip to belgium for a night. I'll leave the setlists to others, but TGPT was amazing , Chris got to do some good solos, Lucy is a phenomenal violinist, Phil and Andy we're every nit as good as I remember from 24 years ago, and Brian was, ...well Brian definitley oner of the best frontmen and vocalists of the last century. I can't say it enough what a great show (it even made suffering through rufus wainright worth it, and for me that's saying a lot) Definitely the best birthday I've spent recently, making 41 seem not so old Denis ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2001 00:19:22 EDT From: LizzieJim@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] First north american show For anyone seeing the show, what kind of souvenirs are there and do they take credit cards?
