If I were a betting woman (and hey, you might be surprised to learn how much money you can make at the $2 single deck black jack table when the dealer slips you the time his shift finishes), I'd wager that the US shows might have an entirely different feel to them, more expansive and, if they're really serious about this, more interested in making their point. This means we are probably going to have to endure both "Avalon" and "Jealous Guy" every night (and "Dream Home," although I wouldn't mind that one again), but I wonder if the opening and closing might change somewhat. I am going to have to stop reading set lists because it's just torture. What if the gamble of two consecutive shows doesn't pay off in a different set list on both nights? What if I miss "Oh Yeah" by one night? Should I have cut my vacation short to make the Philadelphia show? Should I have given up Bermuda for New York? It's too much for this poor lass to bear. It's a remarkable piece--Ferry basically completely loses it a couple times, flinging all over the place the sort of language he now scolds his sons for and totally (and justifiably) dressing down a Melody Maker reviewer.
