I would suggest that such a topic should be directed back to the message boards at bryanferry.com and to the site's administrator(s) as I am uneasy with talking about people behind their backs on the list where they may not be able to present their side. However, that being said, at the same time I must say I am perplexed by people who seem to dislike Mr. Ferry so much, yet have no problem with consuming so many of the resources his camp is footing the bill for. Then again, at least this behavior lets you know who the people are who will come to your party, eat your food and drink your drink, and insult you to your face. Han, I was a bit disappointed when they announced that the 1981 reunion show was to be shown a few weeks before the full blown Roxy special as Jealous Guy was not (for me at least) by any means the highlight of the night, the fact that this was the second stab at this song does not help (by the third attempt the impact and freshness of the renditions were somewhat curbed - IMO obviously.) The broadcast this evening was totally out of context, for instance they were a good 4 or five songs into the set and the crowd reactions at the end were skipped which killed any indication of the atmosphere that was present in the studio. Don't worry my friend - the Roxy special will be just that! Well here goes.. heroes , and all . I know he'd been sweating under the lights for a bit, but poor Bryan looked a bit tired and in need of a haircut. I realised too that I had'nt seen a proper picture of Paul since the Manifesto tour ( hey, thats 20 + years) and he still looked a bruiser. I'd been following this TGPT thing somewhat bemusedly over the last few months but what a difference he made to the sound. I always find Jealous Guy a bit turgid but Thommo kicked it off well. Manzo and Mackay-o struggled a bit , ( but then again I think its the song) and we're all getting on, are'nt we? Can't pretend otherwise - Roxy have grown older gracefully , as they would, and we appreciate it ( just think Strolling Bones for a mo). Remember Jagger with his shirt off at 50. Spedding , not unreasonably, took a back pew for this one. I'm ever more anxious to see them now on the tour - 2 weeks away - time for some more rehearsal and prep for that stage show. Philip PS I've no doubt the tour will find Roxy a new audience, as well as recogntiion of their influence during those exciting 10 years. Its gonna be a media circus. Neil, I agree - it didn't convey the atmosphere at all. I thought on Wednesday that this was the weakest of the 3 JGs they did. Of course the BBC couldn't show too much by way of crowd reaction today, could they - it would have blown the pretence that Roxy were live in Bradford (after all, we weren't all togged up in 1981 clothes as today's "real live" audience was - thank goodness!!). I did just about spot myself though, behind Jocelyn and Collette (after freeze framing the video about 100 times!) Roll on the full show on 6 June. Incidentally, I just saw an old video of LITD on VH1. It emphasised (to me) just how sharp Ferry's recent performances (including Wednesday's) of this song have been.
