My guess is that he was probably at the London Studios doing something (TV interview probably). Or Roxy could be rehearsing in one of the studio complexes that seem to be dotted around Bermondsey/Tower Bridge. I know that the Stones bought a studio round there in the early 70s, it was also used by Pink Floyd back then. I think it's now under different management, but over the past couple of years Oasis, The Verve (before they split) and David Bowie have all been there. Anyway, I thought he was in Monte Carlo! When did this happen and what were the details? He never seemed to be in a terrible state from what I can remember. But I'd imagine it occurred around the time of Boys & Girls - quite a bleak record, endless hours spent in the studio, no audience feedback etc. Bete Noire's fresh exuberence with accompanying tour may have been therapy. > There's an interview with Mr MacFerry in today's Scotsman newspaper > with contributions from Mr Manzanera and Professor Mackay. > http://www.arts.scotsman.com/music/headlines_specific.cfm?id=2375&g=rockpop > _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/ ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 May 2001 13:39:36 +0100 From: Michael Hill Subject: RE: [AVALON] Roxy Music's London... Apparently, during Ferry's pottery teaching years, he made a few fun , "kitsch"(bad, bad word!) sculptures of odd things like blancmanges! Still, they must have been good, because they were exhibited in a famous London gallery for a time. I have a funny feeling Bryan is a far better painter/sculptor than he makes out>probably thousands of unfinished works lying dormant in the old art studio...hmmm... ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 May 2001 09:37:01 EDT From: KRNCHSE@aol.com Subject: Re: RE: [AVALON] Roxy Music's London... I'm a non-British speaking American, but I know it's a chain of shops which specialize in very fresh and good food (not that I was allowed to eat there since they have recently been acquired by McDonalds and out of respect for my vegetarian host I didn't get a chance to partake). www.pret.com Colleen ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 May 2001 07:59:48 +0200 From: Daniel Atterbom Subject: [AVALON] All This and World War II (was: new live album - concerto) At 02.36 +0100 1-05-19, Chris Turner wrote: >I have added the track listings and cover picture for 'Concerto' to the >archives at > >http://www.roxyrama.com/releases/roxyalbums/concerto-frameset.html A great page. I have question after looking through the covers section. Did not Bryan Ferry cover a Beatles' song on the soundtrack to "All This and World War II"? Am I correct to remember it as "She's leaving home"?
