Good Morning Regarding the Avalon cover That is indeed Ms. Lucy, back turned, decked out in full regalia with falcon in hand. From what I am to understand that stunning photo was shot along the central, West Coast of Ireland. The said location was near a home, now once owned, by Ms. Helmore's late father. I have always been very fond of this photograph and I felt it teemed with symbolism. My spin: Warrior / Hunter / Huntress calmly surveying the momentary serenity of the present world. The sun majestically setting as the days now draw to a close. Two worlds portrayed, one in reality, the other, its counterpart, symbolically and mythically perceived in mirror image. The final destination and resting place of Avalon appearing in the distance. Our figure, stoically "trapped in wonder" when the time will come for their final crossing. I have always associated the photo with the final album track of "Tara", seat, and resting place for kings. Bryan's sweeping keyboards and Andy's haunting sax as the waves slowly wash the shore. Gulp...ahhhhhhhh..Time for another cup of coffee Regards John D PS. It's a classic in my personal list, from the first time I ever heard it. You do appear, however, to be king of the retracted comment. That's right, I *did* get to see your original comment about me (now mysteriously replaced) on the Manzanera board last night. Frankly, David, if you can't keep a civil tongue in your head then I don't see the point in posting at all. Your absurdly jealous sixth-form outburst reveals more about you than a dozen postings of faux-bonhomie could hope to cover up. Regards, Ivor. (Who is away for a few days so feel free to respond how you please to this one). ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 May 2001 02:35:51 EDT From: PorterMR@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] Santa Clara / San Jose / San Fran Stores Hi All! I will be visiting Santa Clara, San Jose, and San Francisco and am looking for suggestions for record shops. I'm mostly after vinyl, so a good used record shop handling New Wave sounds from the late '70s to early '90s (Roxy / Ferry, Japan / Sylvian, Factory Records, 4AD, Mute, for example) would be a fantastic stop on my trip. I am still trying to get my hands on a few of the Bryan Ferry "mini-LP" releases, so if anyone knows of a good shop that still has them stocked, please reply, too. Many thanks! Porter PS--I am also looking for a good used or new laserdisc store (trying to find some those Roxy discs, a New Order disc, and some old Criterion releases at good prices). A store that is closing out its laserdisc inventory might also be a worthwhile stop. If anyone has a store or site/event recommendation in any of these cities, please let me know. ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ End of avalon-digest V6 #178 **************************** ======================================================================== For further info, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: info avalon-digest
