And thank you for shaking me from my Avalon slumber with the mail header. I fear David Firmin will now observe how picky Paul Thompson can be with his tank tops. Like it or not socks play an important role in the canon. From my vantage point at Petworth, for instance, I can confirm that garterettes were responsible for the lower-leg sleakness, and pleasantly offset Rosie's own fragrant hosiery. I too have that promo gatefold, but inside was a promo 12" featuring a disc called 'Calling' which (if memory serves) has the 'Nightlife' extended plus introductions of the band members by Rula 'Little Lady' Lenska in various languages. AM in Italian; PM in a a Latino(?) tongue; JW in French(?). Everyone sounds as uncomfortable as you'd expect from such a wheeze. There was also a picture disc promo of 'Nightlife' featuring a bird of prey, which my lucky sod of a friend had and wouldn't sell. Also (for the mad completist tendency) there was a charming mobile of the various cover elements from 'Explorers' (Andrew Logan's jewellery/art and the boys' faces painted with gold etc.) hung tantalisingly in the window of my local record store. Which, after weeks of charming the lovely young thing serving customers, I totally failed to blag. For those of you who care; the latest issue of the 'Thunderbirds' UK comic I draw features a 'Roxyrama' tour bus being rescued. Further issues will continue to detail Roxy members being rescued from various life-compromising situations (a burning building; a sinking cruise liner; any other fiendish situations that come up) and as they appear in print, I'll put them on the 'Thunderbirds' page of my website (see below) so you guys can either laugh with or at me . . . http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/cartoonies/myhomepage/artgallery.html ____________________________________________ Easily distracted? While the original version still punctuates Friday evening with the usual 'pop du jour' TOTP2 is a look back at the great, the good and the ghastly of years gone by. You can submerge yourself in memories for 45 minutes per week, by viewing footage from the TOTP archives between the mid 1960's and the present, voiced over by once-great DJ Steve Wright. Some of it is entertaining, and some, mainly late 70's to late 80's, has to be watched through your fingers from sheer terror. Every week there will be at least one cruel reminder of a performance you will have expunged from your memory. Every now and again they dedicate an entire show to a single artist, mixing archive footage with live performance and interviews, which is where RM come in. Follow Up. As mentioned, a follow up: The Roxy Music 2001 World Tour * will be currently making stops in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth Australia Although no actual dates have been currently announced, as a small bit of an indicator, time frame wise to those who need to formulate plans, the Australian performances will occur after the end of the North American leg of the tour. The "current" ending date for North America is LA, being August 6, 2001. The next "currently" scheduled date is Berlin, Germany on Sept 16, 2001. I think, logistically speaking, travel wise, it would be safe to assume that Australian dates will be between these two stops adding more than a few days at each end for travel time. Now as mentioned earlier and proven by myself here personally, I am no "Rocket Scientist", so this is only my opinion, but this would also seem to bode well for a possible New Zealand and / or Far East stop(s) on the tour as well. Also although there is "No" official news at the moment as to whether any of the said Australian stops will have a second show, based on past "ticket sale" experience and the fact Australian holds such a strong Roxy Music / Bryan Ferry fan base, I would assume anything is possible. I would also like to thank the now world famous calendar makers from the Allstate Arena in Chicago for helping assist with the presiding information.
