I ordered them for a colleague who has now, for reasons I will never ever fully understand (!), decided to go on holiday instead (he's paid me for the tickets though!). The seats are in Block 33 (tiered seating) which is fairly near the front of the arena, but in Row N so they're a fair way back (my own tickets for that gig are for block A2 and I'm not giving those up!). Face value #32.50 each but all reasonable offers considered. If anyone is interested in one or more of the tickets then please contact me off-list at j.collard@btinternet.com The caveat is that I haven't actually received the tickets yet! They were ordered through Ticketline in February and whilst those I've ordered through Ticketmaster or from Wembley itself turned up within days, these are still awaited (although to be fair they do say that tickets will be mailed no less than 1 month before the event). Best wishes Jane ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 1 May 2001 20:14:31 EDT From: Chandla911@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] Ferry Jet Scare Newspapers at eBay Genuine UK newspapers (with exclusive colour pictures of Roxy Music's Bryan Ferry during jet scare) at eBay Last year almost ended tragically for one of rock music's most loved singers, Bryan Ferry. In two minutes, a British plane, whose 379 passengers included Bryan Ferry, the singer, his family and Jemima Khan, plunged 10,000ft as it flew towards Africa, flinging screaming people around in the darkness. This was a huge disaster, just seconds from happening, and here are two newspapers from the weekend of the terrible near-tragedy. These papers are in mint condition. They are the Sun and Daily Mirror from Saturday - these were the two papers that had THAT pic of Bryan (and is that his son Tara?) on their front page. This picture shows Bryan Ferry actually on the plane with the man who almost forced the plane to crash in the distance. Together, they make up a good summary of the story as it broke and obviously the front page stories with Ferry in the pic and the headline are collectors' items. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1427637134 ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 May 2001 00:28:35 EDT From: JDLJ1808@aol.com Subject: [AVALON] Your greatest "Roxy thrill"? I too, am so disappointed that there is no Roxy date in Colorado. I am very, very lucky though and looking forward to seeing them in Boston!! As fate would have it, the finale and last night of our "summer vacation" will be seeing Roxy Music!! The timing is perfect! I'm so excited! Since it'll be my first "Roxy Music" concert, I'd love to hear from anyone who wants to share their greatest thrill/moment/song from a Roxy show in the past. What was it that you'll never forget about "that show"?? I keep hoping maybe they'll add a Boulder/Denver date (??) Keep your fingers crossed, PattyO, you never know ... I saw Roxy in 1979 and 1982, but for me the '79 tour was it! So many moments...the dark, eerie opening of "Manifesto"; The eerie segue from "Stronger Through the Years" to "Ladytron"; clouds rolling behind Bryan during the ending of the best "Mother of Pearl I ever heard"; Andy's "duck walk" and the goofiness of "Editions of You." But my favorite was at the very end of "Re-Make/Re-Model," before that last crashing note. Ferry jumped in the air, and the lights went out, almost as though he had disappeared into thin air. I told Tom that I was part of an interent discussion group (I wonder which one?)and that we knew the itenery first. He then announed on the air that a listner confirmed that Roxy would be visiting Chicago. I had to tell THEM this. This was WXRT, the station that introduced me to them way back when. Terri at the time seemed clueless as to when and where. This was right about the time of the fiasco with the wrong dates listed by the Manzanera website and the Allstate Arena. Look for me, Kim, Andrew, and Paul before and after the concert. We are trying to get a little get together of the Chicago Avalon group. We've already had two brunches and are planning more before the concert. Wasn't he horrible? He WAS full of himself wasn't he? I thought maybe the T-shirt was some sort of a wink the Velvet Underground, but who knows. Let's hope when Roxy is in LA that they make stop on Jay's show. At least he appreciates his musical guests and talks TOP them unlike Letterman who seems to not have a clue as to whom the musical guests are and talks down to them. If they do play Letterman, please, please, please, I hope they don't let Paul Schaffer sit in. He's talented but does he have to play with everyone??? Let's also hope they play something different than LITD which most of America ( and Letterman's audience) seems to know them by. Of course we smart and sassy Avalonians know better. Oh yeah they should also do Conan's show. I'm sure he is a fan.
