Channel surfing, I came across the very tail end of an old Vic and Bob show, where Vic dressed as some strange fop (nothing new there) was questioning a tramp-like Bob asking "weren't you a drummer for Roxy Music". They were knee deep in the sea at the time. Does this ring any bells with anyone who has seen the whole sketch, or was it all just a surreal dweeeeem? Oh and in the Alistair McGowan sketch, it was supposedly Ms Hall being interviewed by Michael Parkinson who also remarked "well you look like a horse" JH "I doooooo knaaaaaaaaattt" MP: "well you look like a man in drag then". A thread I think has been trod here before. Talking about TV, I saw last week Monday in a comic kind of show on the BBC an interview with an imitation of Jerry Hall. Lady with long blond hair, long legs, and a horrible voice. Especially the part in which she showed a clip from her "new' movie was fun. The interviewer said something like: 'that's was awful, then 'Jerry' replied in that strange Texan accent something like" But everyone say they loooooooveeeddd it. It's as awful as your voice, he replied. Your voice sounds like...(men's name which I don't know) etc etc. Anyone seen that one? ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Apr 2001 08:03:34 -0500 From: "Paul Bodine" Subject: [AVALON] Re: Books Other BF interviews have referred to him reading Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" and biographies of playwrights Noel Coward and John Osborne. I had to keep pinching myself. Hard to believe that such intimate concerts can still take place in these days of Ticketmonger and Arenarock. Imagine seeing Roxy at the same venue, wouldn't that be fab. Still bummed that Roxy won't be appearing in Colorado, aren't you? No,the Atlanta show is still on-no reason they can't go from New York on the 24th to Atlanta on the 26th.I always suspected the "x number of shows' bit was the promoters marketing machine in full effect, and am even somewhat sympathetic to what must have been quite a bit of nervousness(in the US) to tour a group that was never that big(again, in the US) and that doesn't have an album of new material already in stores.Saying that the number of shows was limited would assure that people would buy the seats even in the back rows. As far as I can tell, even in the mostly 5-6thousand seat venues they are playing in the US,there are still seats remaining.
