Very bland. Not at all! It was a relief not to have some woman doing untold damage to herself (and my ears), and I thought the trumpet was a clever substitute that made the song fit in with the rest of the ATGB set. News is the band has "now" chosen approximately 35 songs from the Roxy Music back catalogue. These the songs will be worked on, and worked over, during the rehearsals which start in about a week or so. The rehearsals themselves will then extend out into the following four to five weeks as needed. As rehearsals proceed, and of course depending on how the individual sessions go since some song are expected to be "reworked", the song "set list" will then be culled from these 35 songs. Also recently mentioned: Do not expect the same set every night as there will no doubt be some variations. Finally, as to these actual song names? "Forget about it" for right now. The list itself seems to be currently guarded by the loving and ever capable hands of the Knights Templar themselves and you know how tough they can be to crack. ;) -- BM. I agree with the others who stated that RM just do not need backing singers. ATGB tour was proof of that; indeed it was refreshing to hear the less professioanlly honed tones of 'les girls' doing the needful. The printed tickets for the Concord show indicate "no cameras or recorders"--is that policy set and enforced by the venue, the promoter, the artists (or likely, some combination of the above)? I recently attended a U2 show in San Jose where, apparently, people were allowed to bring in cameras (digital or film, as long as they did not have detachable lenses) and recording devices--there were signs indicating such policy at certain locations of the venue, and security wasn't obstructing people's attempts to document the show. Of course, looking at my ticket stub for that event, there doesn't seem to be anything explicitly prohibiting cameras or recorders, so it appears everyone involved with the tour was in agreement with the recording policy. Even if Roxy Music were to allow (or even encourage) personal not-for- profit recordings, I'm not sure that one wouldn't be hassled by the folks in charge of the venue ... Hey all! No doubt you all were wondering why the band was playing 5000 seat theatres except in Chicago, where they are playing an eight million seat venue. (Okay, 31,000.) I know I sure was. Well, a freind in the video end of industrial theatre let me know that he can't get a video team for one of his shows in late July, because all the good people are working on shooting a concert video at the Allstate Arena for some band he's never heard of.... Whaddya think? HIs brother Jimmie is following in his footsteps. ( More Texas talent. ) And on the subject of females, Bonnie Raitt can play guitar with the best of them. Jeff Beck who I saw recently is still going strong. When you get right down to it there's lots of good talent still cutting the mustard. Cameras are allowed as long as you take pics. without getting in peoples way. Some concerts will check all bags including purses. I've had mine checked before they would let you enter. Could you imagine if everyone brought a Cam recorder what it would be like? You probably couldn't enjoy the show for people storming the stage to get a better shot ( the closeup ). Even if you were able to record the music its not worth getting kicked out of a concert, which Btw does happen or your equipment is confiscated. Been there done that.
