Great song btw. Karen I was watching the 2 part TV series based on the Ann Rule Book last week-end starring the murderous Mark Harmon which was And Never Let Her Go and during a seduction scene they played a Bryan Ferry song which I did not recognize. Some of you will already have seen a preview of some clips at the 'A Mad Affair' party back in February. They are both compilation Videos, arranged chronologically, featuring many rare and unseen 'Live' and TV appearances from Roxy Music and Bryan Ferry, around the world, from 1972 - 2000. Our 'gang' have spent a considerable amount of time recently locked away in a Video editing suite, while others slaved away over a hot PC, producing glossy cover designs and inserts for the Videos themselves. Most of the tracks are excellent sound and vision quality, and a very small amount are not as Hi as Fi can go, but are included for their genuine rarity value. More details of the Videos later, but firstly how to order these items... Obviously, we are paying a Video company to run off the numbers required, whether VHS Pal or USA NTSC, which we have pre-arranged, so we do ask you to get your orders in by May 14th at the latest, so we know where we stand. We then will be able to mail the Videos out to you in the last week of May, for you to peruse before many of us meet up at various stages of the Roxy Tour. Here goes , first of all, prices for the 2 x Video set, total running time approx. 4 hours, (with all postage and packing costs included !) : UK : 20 Pounds Europe : 22 Pounds USA, Japan, Rest of the World : 24 Pounds. OK, how to pay for these screen dreams : 1) Send a Cheque, payable to STRANDPOWER, to : Strandpower, Listen, 144 Crouch Hill, London N8 9DX, U.K. OR 2) if you prefer to pay by C/Card, call me at work, on Tuesday, Thursday or Friday, 12 Noon to 6pm, on (020)8342 9633 (or 44 208 342 9633 if abroad) and I'll put the payment straight through - and you will be given your own reference number when ordering. We can also provide you with an email receipt if required. Do remember to let us know if you require your Videos in either VHS Pal or NTSC format. So, what delights await you on these Videos ? Well, both songs from the Twiggy Show in 1974 (which many presumed 'lost'), including the delightful 'What A Wonderful World' set in a classroom... Both songs from the Cilla Black Show in 1973, including a hilarious (if slightly excruciating) duet with Cilla on 'It's My Party'... The very first Roxy 'live' rendition of 'Jealous Guy' from Dortmund, rare footage of Roxy from November 1972 on the BBC 'Full House' Programme (3 songs...), The rarely seen 'Help Me' Video promo, the rarely seen 'Dance With Life' Video promo, the rarely seen extended 12" Video of 'Slave To Love', a total of 3 Songs, spread over both Videos, from the Royal Festival Hall December 99 on the ATGB Tour, a live rendition of 'Sonnet' from Poland, various TV appearances from France, Germany, Japan, Australia, UK, USA, etc etc... I could go on, but there are over 60 appearances in all, covering over 28 years. I will, if requested, post the full track listings later. All ok ? Any questions, then email me offlist. johnny.reece@virgin.net Orders in by May 14th at the latest please, to receive your Videos by the end of May (otherwise you'll have to wait until October/November 2001 - which will only be a '2nd batch if required' situation). Please note : No Videos will be sent out during the Tour, as most of us will be 'on the road' as it were, so ordering in time is important ! Orders received by May 14 will be despatched in the last week of May... Well, they've been about a year in the making, but we knew we'd get there in the end... As ever, this is a non-profit exercise, and is, of course, a Strandpower production for Avalon. Enjoy. Reecey... ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Apr 2001 01:43:18 +0100 From: "Chris Turner" Subject: [AVALON] Eminent Old Alleynians See if you can spot anyone familiar in this list of eminent old boys of Dulwich College... http://www.dulwich.org.uk/history/old_alleyn.htm Chris ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 09 Apr 2001 18:14:01 -0700 From: Ida M Miller Subject: Re: [AVALON] Elliot Smith You are not alone in appreciating Elliot Smith! Ciao, caro Signor Danilo, come sta? Norwegian Wood is a yearly Festival in June, first time was eleven years ago. The park, Frognerparken is in the middle of Oslo. First of all it is known because of the naked oversized granite sculptures of Gustav Vigeland - Vigelandsanlegget -with the Monolith, a 17 metre high column, with 121 naked people clinging to each other. In parts of the park grows huge, wide old oak trees. I think that's the WOOD. Then there's an open air bath, and the stage is in the nearness of this. If you have got the CD-tree Fjord Pleasure, you can hear how it was when Bryan visited last year! Because of a delay, Julia's harp was late from the airport, Bryan had just 1 hour left to do his part. Van Morrison was next...It was a terrible weather this day, hard rain and thunder. Finalmente Danilo, I'll return to The Bridge of Sigh in your bella Italia... I want to throw light on a widespread misunderstanding... Many years ago under il Ponte dei Sospiro in Venezia, it was actually ME that made THAT SIGH.. not the bridge! I had been kissed by the very handsome gondoliere and TOGETHER we poled his gondola through the silken water, o mama mia, this IS true! Somebody preserved it for posterity by photographing, and Bryan has of course heard the story... I can scan the photo of the kiss to Chris, (kiss to Chris? A rhyme!), if you want ddan;-) ..well I'm NOT drunk today..
