I hope I'm not the bearer of bad news, but according to a report I have received from a Roxyrama contributor, Dutch radio has announced that there will be no Roxy concerts in the Netherlands, cost being cited as the reason. I am very concerned to hear this, as it reinforces the official line I was given that every concert has to be viable in its own right, not subsidised by other legs of the tour. Additionally the lack of new material and any large amounts of merchandising, and also the absence of a sponsor, has made ticket pricing and venue size critical factors in choosing destinations. I now have severe doubts about the viability of the Far East and Australian legs, there is almost certainly no South American tour, and now it seems even some European countries are in jeopardy. This may be premature, but I'm not sure how much of a 'World Tour' this is turning into, if only the UK and the northern US states, plus a smattering of European cities are involved. There are still 20 of the projected 50 venues to be announced, and still 4 of the projected 12 countries to be named so there is time for the situation to improve. Countries announces so far: Ireland England Scotland Canada USA Germany Belgium Switzerland Having shelled out a fortune for tix, I'm beginning to share some of the concerns expressed previously here about the rather cynical nature of this tour. I don't pretend to understand the machinations of the marketing of a tour, but personally I'm starting to have a slightly sour taste in my mouth. But I at least have the opportunity to attend...how would I feel if I lived in Rome, Madrid or Buenos Aires, Sydney, Tokyo or Johannesburg?
