After three weeks of rehearsals with him he broke his tumb in a motoraccident. (Laughing) Some people think we are a kind of Mafia and made this all up, but it is true. I think that your high school years are the real formative years music-wise and for me high school began in 1970. At that time all the prog groups that everyone been talking about were favorites. Alice Cooper was also a personal favorite (after having seen them at the Fillmore). And Todd Rundgren was a biggie too. Then the glam movement came along and T.Rex, Slade, etc became big. But it was Bowie and Roxy Music that were my obsessions. I wanted to BE Bowie. I loved Roxy Music beyond all reason. It was also because no one had heard about them ( inevitably when I told people I liked Roxy Music the reply was "what kind of Music?") The holy trinity during the first half of the 70's was Bowie/Roxy/Todd. Then punk came along-Television-Ramones-Talking Heads in the US and too many groups to mention from the UK. I have always been an anglophile and other than Todd and the NY punks-my favorites have all been English. My name is jads and I am an anglophile. ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Apr 2001 16:06:49 -0700 From: Marcia Sexton Subject: RE: R: [AVALON] HOW TO TELL IF YOU'RE A ROXY MUSIC FANATIC My cats names are Odin, Thor, and Tsuliwaensis; after characters in Douglas Adams' "The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul".
