JF >> I'm not sure about their set being sabotaged-but I do remember that everything-all the instruments etc were going through Eno's equipment before getting to the audience and it seems he was really messing with the sound. What I do remember is that it sounded very weird-and after a few songs-the Tull audience was going crazy-booing etc. It is true that Roxy was only on for a very short time-I don't know if this was because they were forced by Tull to leave or because they were getting booed unmercifully (which really pissed me and my friends off because we went to see Roxy-although we kinda liked tull at that stage also). My most vivid memory of this night was that we (my friends and I) snuck into the show for a few dollars. In those days if you could make it to the ticket takers-but had no tix-you could hand the guy some cash and they would let you in wiithout a ticket. I think 5 of us got in for maybe $20 total (in singles so it looked like more). Once in you were on your own as far as seats were concerned-but that was never a problem. Remember that at this time tix were very cheap all around. I still have a ticket stub for David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust in his first ever NYC appearance at Carnegie Hall (also 1972 I think-you have to remember the early 70's are a bit of a blur)-best seats-it cost $4.50. Joel already in; will receive the prestigious Johnny Mercer Award. -----The late J. Mercer & others founded the National Academy of Popular Music in 1969. A nominating committee selects candidates for induction.--------( A songwriter must have been in the profession for 20 yrs. & written an extensive catalogue of hit songs in order to be considered.) Once candidates are determined, ballots are sent out to members of the Academy, which comprises songwriters & other industry professionals. More than 300 songwriters have been inducted since the balloting began & artists inducted in the Hall Of Fame range from Irving Berlin, Stevie Wonder, Paul Anka & Keith Richards.----------------------- We could all hope that someday Ferry would be considered for his writing. Any insight into internet sales? I'm grateful it wasn't this weekend, as I noticed all kinds of scary stuff was going on sale (Ozzfest, N Sync, etc.). It would have been worse than the ire I raised when I was first in a line of Fleetwood Mac fans to buy Bowie tickets. Mainly because I probably wouldn't be first this time. These look like a bargain compared to some of the prices I've seen quoted in recent posts: $ 78.25 Reserved $ 48.25 Reserved $ 38.25 Reserved No lawn seating, according the Pavilion website. Please, pinch me now.
