I was also disappointed to see that Roxy chose the
huge, nasty, sporty Garden. I don't think I'll even be
there for that show (wcoast transplant) but, I pity my
sister and everyone else. They should have done
several nights at the Beacon, allowing only tix for
one night per person/group if necessary. Who cares if
they CAN fill the Garden (which I'm certain they can,
esp. with staggered cities etc.) -- they should not
want to. They tell us too much to tell it from so far away.

Hey there Avalonians!
Wanna beat the mad rush for tickets for the Greek
Theatre L.A. show? At the bottom of this message,
I've included the link to the Greek Theatre season
ticket site. Do it through here and you'll get
priority over the mad ticketmaster line-uppers. But
HERE'S THE CATCH. Due to their whole "premiere club"
type deal (where if you buy tickets to 4 or 6
different shows at the Greek for this season) you'll
get even better priority than if you just bought
tickets to any one show. Now, after settling down,
I've decided to come to my senses and NOT buy tickets
to Dave Koz and the Gypsy Kings and James Brown and
Black Crowes/Oasis et. al. just so I can be in the
front for Bryan and the gang. BUT (and here's the
scheme), if any of you guys would like to pool
together and get "premiere club" Roxy tickets while
splitting tickets to 5 other Greek concerts... maybe
we can all work something out together. (For example,
I take a Black Crowes pair, while one of you guys
takes a Dave Koz, and another takes a James Brown...)
Depending on the limit of tickets we can order through
this season ticket site for the Roxy show (and it
seems like we can do group orders, too... there's a
phone number for that) maybe we can all end up in the
front together as a big, premier club Avalonian group,
whilst only having to suffer through (or enjoy) one
other show at the Greek this summer. What do you guys
think? In our own small way, we might be foiling the
monopoly... email me off list at rickmond@yahoo.com
if this is something any of you might be keen on
trying. We gotta act fast! Oh, yeah... and here's
the link:
https://ticketing.ticketmaster.com/seasontickets/greekven01/index.html
Yours,
Rickmond

It's been reported several times on this list, and John Dillon kindly
spelled it out for us earlier this week in his long email with info about
all of the North American dates, that it is the smaller theater and not
the large arena within that complex which Roxy will be playing. To wit:

Frankly, I think they "should" play my garden. And bring the bar with
them as well. And who are we to tell them what they "should" or "should
not" want to do? They're not doing this tour to lose money after all, so
why shouldn't they take the most advantageous deals they can?
Also, the band has no control over the ticket policies at the various
venues. That battle was lost long ago.

Thanks for the answers to "Help Me" length. 4:35 and 5:14 on the B-side of
Dance with Life. I hate the idea of buying a compilation to get one track when
you've bought all the others. Seems like a rather cynical marketing ploy to
me. This is why people have sought out sites like Napster. Too bad Napster is
just about dried up now, but the genie is out of the bottle and there are
others...Regarding Trivia: There are no copyright restrictions for album
titles so unfortunately some poor sod may buy an album called Flesh and Blood
by the dreadful big hair band Poison (lovely name) or Avalon by TV host turned
musician John Tesh <<

for today is: What artist/group came out with an album with the same title
as
Roxy Music? clue, one was a big hair band and the other a tv show host

Subject: [AVALON] Roxy US Tour Date NEWS.
Good Morning All
I just wanted to pass along some additional information in regards to the
Cleveland, Ohio date or currently lack there of. There is information afoot
that the Cleveland date may not materialize. At the moment this is still in
the rumors stage but I can only summarize one rational reason being the
close geographical proximity of the Detroit date.
This would follow as the sudden addition of the Minneapolis date being
further west to help satisfy more venues / dates that were a bite more
geographically spread out.
Also I will note once again there are FIVE FULL DAYS between the NYC and
Detroit shows. This is the largest gap in the North American tour. This
could be looked at as ample time for another stop, but I think it more than
likely means we are in store for more than one NYC show.
At the end of abbreviated roster you will once again find the complete
listings with venues and their corresponding phone numbers.
This list has not changed since my last such post on Thursday, March 15,
2001 11:44 PM but is supplied for members who may still have some questions.
Regards
John Dillon
