The only reason I know is because I was working in a 'chart return' shop at the time - and we were supplied with the top 100 listings every week, to assist with pre-ordering of Singles, etc. Here in the UK, it was a 'Top 75' that was normally listed. Limbo briefly entered at 91, then promptly disappeared again (despite my best efforts at 'bending' the figures !). However, the sales figures I returned for 'The Price Of Love' (Remix) were another story... All usual listings everyone sees - even in the infamous Guinness books - are factually incorrect - as it lists the 'week ending' date (Saturday) for UK chart positions - but until recent years, the UK chart was published here on a Tuesday - making all dates of positions and entries published by Guinness (and everyone else) over several years, incorrect by 4 days. I do have a contact who has all printed details of top 100 Singles going back several years (an author who is currently in the middle of writing his 2nd Chart Book), - an essential contact for getting the information correct, particularly as Guinness have only issued a top 75 in their publications of recent years. There's a few 'quirks' too regarding Roxy - as even postal strikes here in the UK affected Roxy chart positions in 1973, as 'returns' were often late from record shops during this time, causing a 'provisional' Chart to be published and aired by the BBC from the British Market Research Bureau, for one day only, before the 'official' one would appear a day later. It affected Pyjamarama at the time, as it appeared 'provisionally' at no.30, only to be knocked back to 31 when all the returns were in 24 hours later (annoying as the BBC only concentrated on a Top 30 then), and didn't 'officially' chart for them to consider a 'Top Of The Pops' appearance for Roxy, until the following week, as a new entry at 23. Ivor, give me another couple of weeks or so, and I'll give you back your Anorak I borrowed. It arrived yesterday, and although the price was "ouch," as one person phrased it, I am very glad to have it. The set list for the Paris show was fairly different from what Bryan performed at the show I saw in Chicago in November 1999. It looks like he gave Paris more of the classic Roxy tunes like "Love is the Drug" and "Out of the Blue," neither of which were performed in Chicago. But hey, we got a beautiful "Sunset," so I'm not complaining about that. I do find it curious, however, that either he didn't perform "As Time Goes By" and "September Song" in Paris or they just weren't included on the DVD. Those were both highlights of the Chicago show, at least for me. Speaking of DVDs, and reflecting on everyone's wishes for the perfect Roxy setlist this summer, has anyone contemplated how cool they could make the DVD? There's been a lot of discussion that altho the press release said they will perform a big chunk of each album, it's unlikely they'll perform all of the list at every date. However, since DVDs can hold hours and hours of information, there's no reason why they couldn't put together an amalgamated concert for the DVD that includes every song from the summer tour. Now, that would be fabulous! The comma should have be between the words "Manzaneras" and "RoxyRamma" as show below. Sorry Chris, I did not mean to hand over your fine site to Mr. Manzo. Ton, I think the first scene is in Paris: "And here by the Seine - Notre-Dame casts A long lonely shadow" but the Paris scene ends here. After the refrain we're already in Venice: "[These cities may change But there always remains My obsession] Through silken waters My gondola glides And the bridge - it sighs ..." So Bryan is talking about a gondola in Venice, the way it must be. And, the same way, silken waters are Venice (and not Paris)'s ones. Albeit Venice waters can't really be described as silken nowadays. Who knows which image of Venice Bry had in mind. Cecilia in Venice Get email at your own domain with Yahoo!
