I feared that there had been a subsequent release with good sound, and I'd been unaware of it all these years. It's too bad Virgin never did right by their customers in the States, but some bean counter probably figured that would be sending good money after bad. Still, I hope it's not impossible that it will turn up as a DVD some day. The fantastic sucess of the format, coupled with all the renewed interest in Ferry/Roxy, well, who knows? Speaking of DVDs, the other day someone posted to the list that the new "Live in Paris" is now available in the US as a Region 1 DVD. Unfortunately, I can find no mention of it on sites like Express.com or Buy.com. Does anyone have any further information? Also, does anyone know anything about the alleged Ferry box set that was mentioned on the Ferry/Roxy FAQ and which was supposed to be out in November of last year? Regarding the post about other drummers who have been as influential to their group's sound as the TGPT was to Roxy: what about Neil Peart of Rush? Not only did he play the drums, he also wrote all the lyrics (for which he is loved by some, reviled by others). So, does somebody know who played on that cut, when it was > recorded etc.? ........ Well, Nimrod might be dark and eerie and may even lead us to believe that there are even more of these experimental nuggets hidden away collectind dust in some smoke filled studio. Maybe someday a complete CD of unreleased dark/moody instrumentals.... Ok, I better stop myself here I'm getting carried away. You see, Nimrod unfortunately is simply "New Town" played backwards. Just a simple studio trick with a few wierd noises mixed in, most likely other thing mixed in backwards. I doubt if Bryan even twidled the knobs himself. My guess is that maybe Patrick Leonard came up with it. Bryan's the one of the best at crafting songs but he's no match to Eno in terms of experimental electronic music. I think that's where they differ, which is a good thing, they complement each other!! But, although I actually loved this tour, I was still amazed by this situation. For a guy that has infused some much of his music with such great horns, to then turn around and tour with a fake one? I mean I give Clifford Carter credit for he was able to accomplish here, but to replace a saxophonist with a keyboard player blowing through a mouth piece as he plays? Naaaaah. No Thanks. Now, knowing fully I was not going to see Andy playing on this tour I was then hoping for David Sanborn. I thought his playing on B&G's "Don't Stop the Dance" & "Windswept" pretty dead on. If you have ever heard Bowies "David Live", you know how this guy can really "go to town" live on stage. But then Bete Noir came out it basically had almost no sax or horn work at all. Did it almost sound as if some tracks may have been written for more horns but later they were either dropped or digitally stripped out? Sure sounded that way to me. Was someone on this album who either later left or was taken off. Then as mentioned follows the tour without a sax or horn player. Does any one have any insight to how this all came about? It has always puzzled me.
