Any confiscated contraband will be sold at auction, including all individuals caught in possession. Proceeds from the auction will fund future government activities. Items ceased which are not deemed to be contraband, such as alcohol, guns and munition, peyote, etc., will be distributed to the paeans in exchange for their presidential vote. Meanwhile, it has been determined the stolen quad bike was instrumental in the escape of The Texas Six. Prison officials are not releasing further details, but only say they smell something of a horse's ass in the air and are hot on the trail. The ever popular "America's Most Wanted" presented by Joe Walsh plans to exposi details surrounding the event. It is rumored an increased reward leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals involved will be announced then with an eye toward boasting ratings. It is generally felt that Pop star and former front man of Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry, should benefit from the increased coverage. It seems his fan-e-club, Avalon, continues to flounder in their attempt to discuss the matter. Presumably, members are too shocked to make sense of it all. ~{AVALON];^} ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Jan 2001 12:52:20 EST From: JObinv01@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] Videos In a message dated 17/01/01 22:57:19 Romance Standard Time, eddieriff@yahoo.com writes: << Bryan Ferry - TOKYO, JAPAN 6/9/77 NHK HALL With John Wetton, Phil Manzanera, Chris Spedding & Mel Collins >> I have a copy of this somewhere. McGear is Paul McCartney's brother, and the Wings influence is clear. It's hard to distinguish this from a straightforward Macca product, because McGear sings in an almost identical style to his brother. Sounds weird at first to hear the lyric sung by anyone else (although Siouxsie did a version too), plus there's the McCartney doppelganger thing. Spooky. I've been collecting the various cover versions, and have listed them at roxyrama under miscellany. There are also a number of tribute discs by various artists listed under miscellany and then tributes. The Japanese LITD compilation is particularly good. There's a great jazzy version of Grey Lagoons, and a really super-cutesey version of Just Like You. Overall there are most genres of music represented in the Roxy covers, from pop and rock via punk and goth (LOTS of Goth) to rave-y dance versions and croons. Some are good, many are bad and some are extraordinary. The version of Do The Strand I have by burger/ink (and credited to Ferry) bears not a single note or lyric in common with the original. No time at the moment, but we're working on a way of distributing these. Might go the Napster route. Will advise soon. In the meantime I would recommend you look for the version of Tokyo Joe by Ryuichi Sakamoto. I found it on Napster. Superb. I like the Divinyls version of LITD too.
