["Jane Collard" ] Re: [AVALON] The Paris Concert BRYAN FERRY ["Pat & Allison" Subject: [AVALON] Air Drama - still news! Friday's drama continues to receive big coverage in the UK papers and Bryan still features prominently (I've said many times that he should try to heighten his public profile, but this beats anything a PR agent could organise!). Theresa Fagan's earlier post links to a BBC report which quotes from an interview Ferry gave to the Mail on Sunday. The paper carries a front page picture of him with Isaac and Tara outside their holiday hotel in Zanzibar - I'm glad to report that our man is smiling and looks totally relaxed. The interview also quotes Isaac as saying that even as the jet was plunging earthwards his father told him off for swearing - "People were freaking out everywhere - except Dad, who told me to stop swearing". Cool as ever, eh? Bryan commented that only now is the drama starting to sink in and it's made him realise he should "live every day to the full" (so get that new album out, please!) Seriously - it could all have been so different and I share everyone's relief that, thanks to the pilots' skill, Bryan, Lucy and everyone else on board survived (relatively) unscathed. Anyway, 2000 has been great fun on the Ferry/Roxy front. Highlights for me have been the five Ferry concerts I attended, discovering the Avalon list back in May (it was great to find that I wasn't a lone voice after all!) and finally meeting a whole bunch of Avalonians at Castle Howard in August. Enjoy the New Year celebrations and let's hope 2001 is as much fun as 2000 has been. A friend of mine told me on Friday night that Virgin radio, who had been playing the all time greatest singles ever, or something like that, had said that Roxy were reforming in 2001! anybody hear anything? Happy New Year everyone, see you in London in February JF ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 31 Dec 2000 12:25:51 +0100 From: Kicki Gustafsson Subject: Re: [AVALON] Re: [AVALON] Brave photographer! >If Issac Ferry was the brave photographer - and I think he was a video >taper - then I still ask the same question- it's all a bit ruthless >considering the complete horror of it all - who ever would want a photo >taken at the moment of possible death? - unless it was taken after the >event, but still........ This is what the This is London website has to report today: [....] Meanwhile, Bryan Ferry has called on British Airways to review its policy of keeping cockpit doors open. His appeal came hours after he and his family were caught up in the mid-air drama. The 55-year-old Roxy Music frontman said the crew had used his wife Lucy's scarf to tie up Mukonyi. Ferry, whose two sons were also on the flight, said: "BA will have to review its policy. It's mad isn't it? Especially when nutters can just walk up there." He told the Mail on Sunday: "Another four seconds and we would have died, which is a very sobering thought." He added: "Luckily the captain was a well-set man, courageous and strong." Imagine that! What kind of scarf was it? Hermes? Liberty's? Gucci? Prada? Givenchy? Pashmina? /Kicki G - ------------- http://www.torget.se/users/k/KickiG http://www.avalon.pp.se ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 31 Dec 2000 09:17:08 EST From: KWil632057@aol.com Subject: Re: [AVALON] The Paris Concert BRYAN FERRY In a message dated 31/12/00 01:13:04 GMT Standard Time, wilmar77@bellsouth.net writes: << The Paris Concert BRYAN FERRY (Virgin) DISC INFO RELEASE DATE: Feb. 06, 2001 GENRE: Pop FORMAT: Album TYPE: Live NO.
