Hi, Jonathan. Well, personal opinions abound, of course, but here goes... I reckon you can't go wrong with 'Here Come The Warm Jets'. for a start, Eno's first soujourn into a solo world. Worth the admission money alone for Eno's Ferry impression on ''Dead Finks Don't Talk' when he warbles "as you peck your way up there"... priceless. Much speculation on release too, I seem to remember on the track 'Blank Frank', was it about BF - owing to the initials ?, the journos mused. 'Baby's On Fire' and 'Cindy Tells Me' are other great tracks. Buy it. Now. follow it up with 'Taking Tiger Mountain'. Ok, not as good as the first Album, but it has its great moments 'The True Wheel' - and its goddamn awful moments 'Put A Straw Under Baby' - but you should have it. Remember most of Roxy played on these Albums anyway. If you're going for a triple set - get 'Before And After Science' as a third choice. Lauded, often, as one of Enos best solo works, I personally disagree, but there's a few gems in there - 'Kings Lead Hat' being the main one (an anagram of 'Talking Heads', don't ya know.) After that - you're in an ambient world, which I think would fill an entire discussion on its own. However - these are all mid-price now, so go for it ! Another point of note - Side 1 ('The Heavenly Music Corporation') of 'No Pussyfooting' (Fripp and Eno) is a real fave, kind of ambient-wise. Can';t stand side 2 though. God, I sound like a reviewer ! Lauded, often, as one of Enos >best solo works, Rightly so. To me, Before And After Science is Eno's best song album. Side two contains some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard. Opinions diverge, of course. I'd recommend: Another Green World (1975) Discreet Music (1975) Before And After Science (1977) On Land (1982) Nerve Net (1992) ...and many others, certainly. Eno may not be carrying the luggage Ferry carries, but for me, there's a lot of melancholy to discover as well. Like a step from the lonely lounge lizarderie to a child gazing at the sea for the very first time. Or so. Warm Jets and Taking... are pop music, but rather unconventional regardless, with some should-be classics on them like Baby's On Fire, Dead Finks Don't Talk, and Third Uncle.
