I saw Kirsty a few years ago, a great singer whose material didn't always live up to her great talent. Odd that she should be killed at Xmas too. Moore was a big Eno fan in the 80s when I knew him slightly, and probably liked the first 2 Roxy albums, I'd guess. Hilarious posts! All I have to offer is this old gag: It's 2010, and Dylan's Never-Ending Tour is still going. A photographer is poking around the edges of the stage during a soundcheck. He spies an unfamiliar tubular metal object standing in a corner. What's that? he asks. A roadie replies, Oh, that's Bob's Zimmer, man. Merry Yule, y'all. Guy - ------------------------------------------------------ >Grandmother of Pearl >This is Hereafter >The Only Facelift >Arizona >All I Want is Youth > To celebrate his 65th birthday, Bryan Ferry will release his new album "I've Got A Free Bus Pass And I'm Gonna Use It", a generous 2 cd collection of favourite songs and reinterpretations of Ferry's own classics. She also did some good covers, though I was never a huge fan. I get the impression she was well-liked in the UK music community. Perhaps Jools H will do a tribute on his Hogmanay show. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-avalon@smoe.org [mailto:owner-avalon@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Andrew Shearer Sent: 19 December 2000 16:06 To: avalon@smoe.org Subject: RE: [AVALON] Kirsty MCcol Just heard Kirtsy Mccol has been killed in a boating accident. _ ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Dec 2000 07:25:09 -0000 From: "Andrew Shearer" Subject: RE: [AVALON] Ladytron Cheers Guy >From: "Guy Lawley" >Reply-To: avalon@smoe.org >To: >Subject: RE: [AVALON] Ladytron >Date: Wed, 20 Dec 2000 07:05:12 -0000 > >Nah, but there is a comic book character called Ladytron! I never would have bought it myself, but it was an early Xmas present, and the lazy sod didn't wrap it,. and I couldn't resist sneaking a look... and then I was hooked for hours! I don't think I've ever seen a book quite like it... it's a reference manual rather than a biography, but has so much discussion of the recording etc. of the material that it's much more than a discography. Nonetheless it has something about all the songs, in alphabetical order, then all the albums, in chronological order, and various other bits and bobs. Only a madman would read it through from cover to cover, but it's great to dip into. I might end up keeping it in my toilet... the ultimate accolade. Anyway, if there's a Bowie nut in your life, it may not be too late for Xmas even now. Like I said, I would have passed it over if I hadn't been given it (but then I don't like "rock books" generally). Just wish there was something like this about Roxy Music... (hey Mr Pegg, are you reading this??). I think I'll have to go over to manzanera dot com now and wallow in some history there...
