After all , Bryan is human, & I might add is surrounded by women, plus away from home. We don't really know ( we're not in is home ) just how his & Lucy's relationship truly is. Whatever arrangement they have is their business. Plus Bryan is not a fool ( I hope ) he is aware his actions will no doubt hit the tabloids. Enough said.--------------------------------- The Early Years are already in the stores in USA. Was just in Best Buy they have it, along with just about all the remasters . If anyone is needing anything now is the time to purchase. Same holds true for Eno material. They are reeving up for the Holidays. Dear Martino! Forgive me if I gave the impression that I was criticizing Bryan Ferry. I wrote to criticize Mr. Price's words, and their impact. Yes, Price's words were extremely cavalier, and irresponsible. It appears Mr. Price's words are not held to the same standard as our words are. Was it not Ferry management and Jim Lawn who made it clear to a core group of Avalonians that discussions concerning Ferry personal details, whether true or not, are frowned upon since his family reads our posts from time to time? Held to the standard set by "Ferry Mouthpieces", am I not duty bound to decry Mr. Price's words since they are read by people close to Ferry? According to rule, it matters not one bit if Mr. Price's words speak truth. My point is his recklessness is far more damaging than anything that has been offered on this list. Again, I feel sorry for Bryan Ferry's sons - They are the ones who have to face Anthony Price, try to understand why Price would disparage their mother and indirectly diminish their importance as sons of the lesser woman - what sort of friend is Anthony Price? Bryan Ferry's closest friend seems to care not for Mr. Ferry's family by making statements such as those quoted in The Sunday Express. Price's words are read by ?thousands?, read by Ferry family members, friends, and associates, while our words are read by ?hundreds?. His words carry instant credibility, ours do not. He is in a position of trust, we have no such obligation. Yet, when any Avalonian asks a question of Ferry personal nature they rarely receive an on-list answer. Yet, when any Avalonian makes a statement of Ferry personal nature they are either chastised or ignored. Indeed, Martin, your mild snip at me for moralizing (which I did not do), your accusation that my action is bourgeois, well demonstrates the methods in use to depress politically incorrect views on Avalon List. I am compelled to ask why we should abide while Price does not. Why the double standard? (PLEASE, do not misconstrue: I do not I believe Ferry's personal life is a free for all spectacle, that we should revel in smut!) I merely am curious about what other Avalonians think about this imposition. Agree or not, there is no need for personal attacks. Best wishes, KBP PS. Martin, you would make a splendid romance novelist! ___________________________________________________________________________ The subliminable footer says: To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 26 Nov 2000 12:18:41 -0500 (EST) From: Colleen Matan Subject: Re: [AVALON] What Goes On. And it's what I prefer to believe. Surely anyone but Bryan would have felt schadenfreude, not generosity, toward the Lass of Richmond Hill. So I cling to the notion that friend Price has uttered the truth. My only doubt is whether the Prairie Rose was able to come up with a worthy response. Would there be an Avalon if we had all refrained from speculation on the sources of inspiration which have moved the Cool One to produce his masterful offerings over the years? I think there is a difference--and not merely a temporal one--between speculating what was going through his mind as he recorded _The Bride Stripped Bare_ and the overheated posts here about how he may still be carrying a torch for Jerry Hall (despite Mr. Price's comment to the contrary). Speaking only for myself, I would find it (and him) pathetic if Mr. Ferry had contacted her for any reason other than to merely offer his sympathy. > My only doubt is whether the Prairie Rose was able to come up with a > worthy response. I dare say that even Ms. Hall could muster the appropriate "thank you."
