I beg to differ - NOTHING about John Otway EVER makes sense S;^) Anyway I can't possibly be seen to support the Feelgoods after their fans' treatment of Gentle Giant some years back... As for Eddie and The Hot Rods, I never saw much in them to write home about even if Andy Mackay did record with them. The Hamsters - aren't they the ones in the Guinness Book of Records for the greatest number of consecutive gigs or some such trivia ? I seem to recall they did a Hendrix tribute album a while back, or was that another band with a similar name ? No, Chris - having missed Magma, Colosseum and Camel recently, I think I'll save up my pocket money for the next Ferry tour - if it's anything like the last one, I need to start saving NOW !! Gentlemen: I guess it hasn't occured to you that some of your readers might be Republicans. I'm old enough to remember when Rolling Stone was skeptical of politicians of all stripes. But times have changed and now all we get are articles critical of George Bush and Texas and lauding Al Gore. You conveniently forget the battles you fought with Tipper Gore's Parents Music Resource Center and gloss over all the other flip-flopping in Al Gore's record. Al Franken's piece was lopsided as the title indicated it would be. "On the one hand, maybe you can't expect a governor to know what's happening in the Senate Banking committee. Then again, if I had asked Bill Clinton or Al Gore the same question, I would have gotten a dissertation on the history (and smashing success) of CRA". Hey, Al Franken, working with Congress is what Clinton and Gore are supposed to do! They're policy wonks. How about a fair comparison? Anyway, Al Franken can think that Bush is stupid but he's still smarter than the guys who green-lighted "Stuart Smalley". Oh, who cares, I'm undaunted Hi all, saw some prog rock threads going around and thought I would mention that even though I'm not doing much lately, I did go to the King Crimson show last night in Milwaukee. Oh yeah baby! They were four piece with the drummer from Mr. Mr. replacing Bill Bruford and Trey Gunn replacing Tony Levin along with Mr. Belew and Mr. Fripp. It was quite fantastic in a small theater with Adrian Belew doing an acoustic solo version of Three of a perfect Pair and the energy of a small nuclear device going off at close proximity. They did a killer version of Red and the overall effect of the show was not at all unlike doing good acid. Freaking magnificent! Fripp is indeed the Les Paul of our time and on top of that Mr. Belew would have to be looked at as the "lead" guitarist of the band as he almost exclusively does all of the solos. Mr. Fripp providing the insanely fanatical main base of the music. Arnie you would have died! As a sidebar they would actually provide the Maestro with an unbelievably heavy backup band.
