The New Music Express had called him "the most important man alive" and I asked him it felt. Answered that it didn't feel much. >> Magazine has been one of the most underrated british bands around that time. Loved by the press, ignored by the audience. It wasn't just Devoto himself, it was (just like with Roxy) the band too - great individual musicians. You don't get many original bass-players like Barry Adamsson, his solo stuff is interesting too. Formula turned to the commercial side (Visage and lot's of production stuff); John Cale did some nice recordings (Falkland suite etc.) in his Strong-Room studio. And John McGeogh (does anyone know what happened to this genious guitarist. Hope he did not waste his talent. Know he tried several bands (Armoury show) and flopped. Won't forget the live-performance (as support for Patti Smith) in Germany, 1978 - one of the best concerts (both excellent) I've ever seen. ___________________________________________________________________________ Come to Las Vegas and hear the indestructible tagline sing selections from "The Jazz Singer" ! Thanks Mike - ----------------- I got it from Amazon US mail order (on the net). (Cost a packet w. postage but worth it.) Worth checking the Amazon UK lists, I should think; it might be there by now. ___________________________________________________________________________ Come to Las Vegas and hear the indestructible tagline sing selections from "The Jazz Singer" ! Do a search on Roxy Music at Amazon. I don't know the track listing, but I suspect this is a direct rebadging of the previous material, but I'd like to think it might include the other previously excluded tracks. It doesn't appear to be being released on DVD. Chris Yesterday when I went to purchase a ticket for Los Lobos ( Hi Marlena!) at Tower Records in Chicago (Lincoln Park location) I noticed a display of DVD's and low and behold was the Musikladen DVD with T-Rex and Roxy on display. I was not looking for it per se, it was just there. I did not purchase it because I do not have a DVD player-yet. It's good to know it will be there when I do purchase one. It's available here.
