I'll probably end up buying both Valentine *and* the DVD, but at least i won't - ask - why... And I totally agree about this list being a small microcosm (microscopic smallcosm?) in which we can't just "ignore" people. We'll have to deal with them like we do in real life. That's either loving and understanding them or start wearing black trenchcoats... Well, I didn't really mean that. Marylin Manson should be taken to a little mental hospital somewhere nice and quiet and KorN (is that how you spell it?) needs a vacation, obviously. Who wouldn't prefer the Ferry-ish hair anyway? martijn PS Sorry for the rambling. The influenza got me on the runaround, runaround, got me all down town... ___________________________________________________________________________ Come to Las Vegas and hear the indestructible tagline sing selections from "The Jazz Singer" ! KBP in the 'real' world i don't have to let people into my home if i don't like them. killfiling someone is no different than refusing to allow an unwanted visitor into my home. for example, i am active in a sports newsgroup. one person regularly posts bigoted, anti-semitic rants, and i killfiled that jerk a long time ago. several months ago a few avalonians got upset about a particular member's posts and asked jason greshes to kick him out. jason asked the list whether he needed to do so. i said then, and i repeat now, that we each have the ability to determine whose posts we read, so there's no need for him to baby-sit the list. the point is that it's a personal matter for each of us whether to killfile a particular member. if you don't want to , fine. but karen had said that she doesn't join in conversations anymore because of colleen. so karen can now decide whether she wants to block colleen's messages. i'm not advocating that she do so, but a lot of people don't know they have that capability. ___________________________________________________________________________ Come to Las Vegas and hear the indestructible tagline sing selections from "The Jazz Singer" ! Correct me if I'm wrong, or being ridiculously pedantic, but is there actually a pencil called 2HB? I know there's HB (the common one) and 2B (a soft art one), but I don't think there is actually a 2HB. Also, I have changed my main (s*bscr*bed) email address. Just so you all know ;-) The address in my .sig still works. Not sure if I'd be able to go though - transport/cost issues can all be sorted out one way or another, but it's unlikely that any of the possible venues would let a 16-year-old in. However, a small gig venue for Re-Make/Re-Model, if we got them to come to the UK, might do. This also bugs me, so not ridiculously pedantic in my eyes. I think the pun still stands, it's probably *meant* to sound like a grading of pencil. But it isn't! We of Avalon really should be correct about such things, for if not us, then who? The pun may go deeper. 2H is a very hard pencil, B is soft, 2B very soft. Bogart gets to act tough but also show his "heart of gold" in his screen persona (not just in Casablanca, though notably there of course). So: 2HB; a grade of pencil which is both soft and hard. An impossibility. But not so for a human being. Ferry, of course, would have been intimately aware of the properties of various pencil types (and, arguably, of human beings). And so it all hangs together. Yes/no/maybe???
