Any thoughts? Anyone think that Curt Wild had elements of Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain about him (as well as Iggy). What about the Roxy references (other than the songs)? Jack Fairy looks like Eno but there are elements of Ferry about him too. It seems no coincidence that there are characters called Brian (the Bowie clone) and another called Fairy. The narrator says things such as "Brian had a vision of the future" etc. At the beginning Fairy is getting beaten up at school, an outcast similar to Ferry himself. Walking along the animated road he is the epitome of the Keats like figure that Ferry was reported to resemble at this age. There is even a segment in which the You Go To My Head video is mimicked (Kari-Ann in a pink number turning the door handle). The occasion on which Ferry came in disguise to a Curved Air concert to see potential Roxy employee Eddie Jobson is also included. Is the clothes designer supposed to be Anthony Price? These were picked up from Velvet Goldmine's site: At Bijou Records, the wall behind the receptionist's desk has three framed pictures taken at the "Virginia Plain" photo shoot. "To be played at maximum volume" was originally printed on the sleeve for The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. The street that Curt is walking on after he has the fight with Brian looks a lot like K. West, the street that David Bowie is standing on on the cover of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. The outfit and hair that Brian has when he first meets Mandy looks exactly like the outfit and hair that David Bowie has in the inside cover of "The Man Who Sold the World." When Brian first sees Mandy, he says "Do you jive?" -- that's what David Bowie said when he first saw his former wife, Angie. Nick __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Don't forget that Curt also has a lot of Lou Reed in him. The electro shock therapy, bisexuality(Iggy is/was a tri-sexual, he'd try anything at least once), and androdgynes sitting next to him in New York at the nightclub(Angela Bowie went shopping with them), and Andy Warhol added to the mix. I don't see much Jim Morrison in him. >Jack Fairy looks like Eno but there are elements of >Ferry about him too. And he's a real musician with a record out on Trent Reznor's Nothing Records. I think it's called on the Bowling Green, or something like that. >It seems no coincidence that there are characters >called Brian (the Bowie clone) and another called >Fairy. Yes. I've found that in this movie, if you think he is, yes. But also take everything with a grain of salt. Expecting this movie to be a catalogue of the "glam rock" era is just going to end up disappointing you. It's a lot of smoke and mirrors being thrown up into your face. Which is, of course, uberGlam...
