There's an article on Jerry Hall's performance in the Gielgud Theater, in one of the German Rag-Mags (my wife bought it!), including, of course, a secretly taken picture, which displays the lady in all her full glory(?). I fondly remember the 1986 "Whistle Test Extra" programme that was done around the same time as the "Street Lfe" compilation came out. Parts of that interview turned up on APS, but my own videotape of it was wiped shortly after the event by an uncaring relative, but not before I'd put the soundtrack on audio tape. And in that special they showed a bit of "Sign Of The Times", which is a different version to the album recording. Am I right in thinking that this performance was for the Kenny Everette show? We didn't have a VCR at the time so I put the tape recorder in front of the TV and recorded the songs (I don't recall the interview) except I put the tape in the wrong way so it promptly ran out and recorded nothing! And I seem to remember that it was previewed the week before on "Entertainment USA" with bendy gob himself Jonathan King. He spoke to Bryan in a hotel room (?) in the USA (funnily enough) and it was the first time I'd ever heard him speak, and I couldn't believe how much his speaking voice didn't match him! It was too high. That's a very distant memory. It was called The Other Side Of The Tracks and had some footage of Bryan's garden with Windswept as the background music. It was about a year before B&G was released. It had a wee snippet of Smoke Gets In Your Eyes with Bryan lying on a couch. Appologies to be a few days after everybody has finished this thread but I agree about 'Avalon' being named after King Arthurs homeland/burial site. I don't know if this has been raised, but as a point of interest I have read that some historians (I can't remember whom) believe that King Arthur's Avalon was in Wales, and not an island or area in the south west of England. My other theory is that the album was named after a Jaguar (the car manufacturer) dealer, also called Avalon, near me in Wolverhampton..... While I'm here, and again I don't know if this has been said, but has anybody seen Moloko's new video? It is a clear Roxy rip-off (looks like Ladytron and Do the Strand to me). It is complete with outrageous behaviour a la Eno on some tapes or keyboards, up close snaps of the guitarists chord changes sported by P.Manzanera and even a "Do the Strand" finishing pose at the end, with one arm raised aloft!
