That's not what we set out to go for that is basically who comes in. So we (like Virgin) target those people on advertising etc. (Catch 22 I suppose, hey! I'm just a small cog in a very large wheel). We do go outside that group, (if you don't you don't progress or grow) but remember it's the 'core' not the total market for us. If I can quote the sales sheet from Virgin records for the Slave to Love CD re the TV advertising, "Targetting core 30 - 45 audience". That's where the record label sees him. Having sold 3 times the advance copies of ATGB is brilliant but those copies then have to sell to the public over the counter (Sorry, that sounds a bit patronising, don't mean it to...). Hey! If I could influence our audio chaps I'd tell them that next weeks No.1 should be STL and No.2 ATGB (No. 3 Country Life, No. 4 Another Time Another Place....) but my area is DVD/VHS at the head office in Wardour Street, Soho, UK. Yes I have asked my contact at Virgin Records for any / further info. on the DVD/VHS release, he has not called/e mail'd me back yet. Day 4 sales - (I was out in Soho last night, just for the one drink after work you understand .......got back home at 1.00am, oh my aching head!! which is why I'm passing on day 4 on Saturday). Holding up quite well. It should be the third new entry this week behind Coldplay (as mentioned) and Morcheba (which I forgot about). The top 10 albums are always on Ceefax on BBC2 on Sunday evening after 7.00pm so check it out to see if the man has gone top 10. My guess is that it might go in Top 20??????? Just read this e mail back to myself, god! I sound a right old know-all!!! I LOVE BRYAN FERRY AND ROXY MUSIC!! Remember Richard Swift said it had sold 3 times the advance copies of ATGB AND you can buy this one in Supermarkets and Woolworths. He's also in the middle of his best tour (ever???) . And ATGB charted at number 14 in it's first week. Top ten or I'm gutted. Rob "the Bard" Whiteford. Perhaps there is a rotten Rembrandt in the state of Denmark.? PS Why don't HMV consider artists like Ferry their "core".? - is the core Britney,Mariah, Whitney and Jessica Simpson? I always thought they were better than Virgin to fing Ferry records in. Than again so are WH Smith. > > "X" deadly sins? > > "x" HB ? > > "X" and nine ? > > three and "x"? > > weekend starts Friday soon after "X" > > So it gets to "x" and I think of nothing....... So if anybody has recordings of any of the other shows e-mail me off list and we can try and arrange a swap. Btw, does anybody know of a piece of footage of Roxy at the Rainbow in '74? It's on a list of cd's and video that has been offered to the guy with the DAT unit for trades. The atmosphere was electric, non of the problems of the sort we had at Elton with the stewards encouraging people to come to the front (no mosh pit) I nearly missed the surge, but with aswerve from the reecey book of concert manouveres got 1 row back central, looking up el ferraries nose. set list was the usual for the summer gigs, but "sunset "came back along with Avalon.
