If someone is able to give me a lift I would be more than happy to take care of the expenses :) I would also like to know where to meet the first Avalonians. As I will also attend the Blickling Hall gig ( will stay at " the Old Pumphouse", Aylsham, Norfolk, will be there on thursday evening ) I would be grateful to know how it is gonna be organized over there, I will fly to Birmingham on Friday morning ( the 14th) for my avalonian week in the UK. I love this list, you know. Just back from a Friday morn to Sunday night trip to Paris, and I come back to about 60 messages. Great stuff. Haven't seen the 'Bry on JD' appearance yet, but fortunately it's been taped for me. Nice to see so many adding names to the list of upcoming Gigs, hope to see you all there. Went Roxy hunting, of course, in the Parisian Record/CD departments in the last 48 hours, loads to see actually, some so overpriced it would be a lottery job, though I was amazed to pick up orig French Vinyl pressings of RM 1,2, and 4 for £4 each - (seemingly unplayed !). C. Life is a goodie, as it's a g/f cover (Lyrics in the g/f, obviously). Kicking myself now for not picking up a French 'Stranded' - 'Red block' letter cover - yet still on Island. Damn ! I'll get it next time. Quite why I got them is another thing entirely, as heaven only knows how many various Vinyl copies of these LPs I have already - but hey - perfect condition and all - I mean, you just can't leave them there, can you ? Many great foreign Pic sleeves abound, (Plain, Pyjamarama, S.Life etc) averaging about £30 a throw, but decided to give them a miss for the mo - all monies concentrated now on Gigs 12, 13, 14 on the current Tour for me. Home for 48 hours, then next stop The Hague - Gig 12 - (and believe me, these gigs just get better and better...) where I'm looking forward to bumping into those mad but incredibly nice lunatics - the Dutch contingent. All this, and a Remake/Remodel gig to follow later the same evening... Couldn't ask for more. Well, I could, but I won't. Picked up an interesting print in a totally fabulous half and half 'Salon De The' (pronounced 'Tea' btw) / Art Shop today, just next to the obscenely ugly Pompidou building. It's a print by the not-too artily named 'Sid Dickens' which bears more than a striking resemblance to the cover of Mamouna. Couldn't leave it there, had to buy the bloody thing, as RM/BF anoraknaphobia struck me down again. STL Comp is abound in Paris record shops now - no 'This Love' on their versions either. And just why is ATGB a whopping £25 there ? That's a strange one, as other titles are around £17, fairly normal for France. Dinner this evening just before I left, was indeed by the Seine, where... (oh, you know the rest...) Nurse ! Reecey... ___________________________________________________________________________ Come to Las Vegas and hear the indestructible tagline sing selections from "The Jazz Singer" ! A big big thanks for sharing that with us. One assumes Jim won't be sharing the tape with Avalon. Is there not a contradiction in his attitude to unreleased recordings (audio and/or visual) that he shares with a few friends and his attitude to our, relatively open, dissemination of unofficial material ? Lest any newcomers think I'm being unfair may I remind Avalonia of Jim's charming remark - from memory - "Bryan has seen Avalon and didn't think much of it." A comment without substantiation or means of verification. And, judging from many stage-door conversations, utterly untrue.
