Half the time I forget to change it so it ends up saying something like "Re: avalon-digest V5 #247", and I've posted one in the last few days that I only afterwards realised said "Re: [AVALON]" and nothing else. Probably not a major problem, but my memory's usually better than that :-( Bye Laura ___________________________________________________________________________ Come to Las Vegas and hear the indestructible tagline sing selections from "The Jazz Singer" ! Later, as I gunned Alka Seltzer in the bathroom, I felt an unusual weight on my hip. Imagine my surprise when I turned out my pockets to find a blank CD, the words "This Love" pencilled to the post-it note that disfiguered the jewel-case. I wound up the gramaphone in the drawing room of Stockman Towers and, lo, heavenly music filled the space up to the ceiling fresco. This (love) is full-on twilight Ferryzone. Eerie proto-Portishead production - - resonant of rain dripping down abbatoir walls, etc - and Massive Attack spacial soundscapes. This (love) is the finest vocal performance since the opening bars of Sentimental Fool. I scribbled down some of the lyrics on the flip side of the post-it and re-read them on the 134 Bus to Tottenham Court Road this morning. Cue crying jag. This love is a strange love, a faded kind of day love, I think I'm gonna fail again....This love doesn't mean a thing love, doesn't mean to be love, doesn't mean a thing... Good. Very good indeed. More Byron than Ferrari, and that's not to everyone's taste. As the italian dates have been definitely canceled, I convinced my husband (who didn't want to see me sad) to make a stop in Castle Howard on our way back from Scotland in August. The MAGIC Reecey was so helpful and generous and managed to order two tickets for us (without having ever seen me!!!) So I'll be of the party. I just wanted to say that all this solicitude and kindness of the Avalonians really surprised and moved me! Counting down to the days to the Concert.
