My best option is to fly into Luton which gets me there at 3:30 PM. Public transport from there is a nightmare and will get me there in time for the second encore. Is there any of you who are going by car and live near or pass Luton or somewhere I can go to from Luton who would like to offer me a lift and share fuel etc. mail me off list if you can help thanks John O'Brien ___________________________________________________________________________ Come to Las Vegas and hear the indestructible tagline sing selections from "The Jazz Singer" ! You're both right of course - Ute Lemper (bless her leather-clad tonsils) was the wife in the trial scene. Jerry Hall played the prostit...sorry, groupie ! Reecey and I are planning to leave about 11 or 12 o'clock to get checked into the hotel, get in the queue etc etc etc. Can you not make it any earlier (there are earlier EasyJet flights from Glasgow) ? Or, even better why not come down the night before - we can put you up for the evening !! Let me know, Ivor. ___________________________________________________________________________ Come to Las Vegas and hear the indestructible tagline sing selections from "The Jazz Singer" ! ('Hey what a fabulous >room...are all these your guitars ?...wanna take a baaaaaaaaaaaath ?'). so, i "rewilled", eh? well, anyway - i meant to say (btw), 'weren't they all *singing* parts?', but i evidentally lost hold of my supreme command of the english language. anyway, i think i'd take ute and her "leather-clad tonsils' any old day of the week! ivor, your encyclopedic nature on this list is simply ... not fair. i think, to even the playing field, you're going to have to undergo a purge of sorts - for the good of all. on the other hand, however, it comes in rather handy ... so nevermind .... now for some kind of ferry content. i've just acquired 'TTOIA'; the four-discer [ooh-ooh! at a reduction]. i must say i really enjoy the b-sides here (one somewhat laughably), but the stand-out (for me) is the re-make of 'manifesto'. this was really well done! it's like the song got a bra put on it! hey - lift *and* separation. too bad the original album wasn't a bit more like this!! however, i don't know what happened with 'trash 2'; ferry sounds like he's on valium or something. did enjoy ext. remixes of 'angel eyes', 'dance away', & 'main thing' ... und all ze photos too ... peaces/ms ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ___________________________________________________________________________ Come to Las Vegas and hear the indestructible tagline sing selections from "The Jazz Singer" ! This was posted on the Richard Thompson list the other day (reprinted with permission, mind you...) "I dragged my new sweetie to go see Bryan at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC. The tickets were comparitively cheap at either $30 or $40/ticket. It wouldn't have been so bad except it was standing room only - but we had a pretty good view from the upper balcony to the right of the stage. In the early 80s I was completely entranced with Bryan for a number of years. It was only with the release of Momouna that I finally lost heart. I also had noticed that his voice was starting to loose its masculinity - I think due to smoking too much. (snip) Bryan was in good form at his concert, and I was able to recall that certain charisma that he posesses that captured my attention in the first place. His voice now has a worn withered sound to it, but somehow, it came across well with his choice of material - the old standards of the 1930s. He was also able to orchestrate arangements to the songs that - in typical Ferry fashion - put a certain edge to them. I walked away having felt happy that I'd gone. I don't expect he'll ever tour again. This was a good experience, and I sort of hope that this is the one he leaves us with. - --gina" Just so you know: Gina has asked for info about joining this list. Please be kind to her, in spite of calling Our man's voice "withered"...
