Though actually I like the two covers. Though they are not my faves, I found them to be inventive. Too many artists simply apply their voices/techniques to an already existing arrangement, (ala Mariah Carey's dismally note-for-note re-interpretaion of Harry Nilsson's interpretation of Badfinger's "Without You.") Bryan, like Harry will take a song and re-work it until it suits his style completely. This doesn't always work of course, (I was not a big fan of Taxi), and for some these two pieces fail. I like them better than some of the other covers, but they certainly aren't the center pieces of the disk. Then again, except for the Fab Four, (IMHO), I don't think anybody else has succeeded in creating a disk full of masterpieces. > Flesh+Blood is a better record than MAnifesto, except that you didn't know > it when it was released. Yes. They do exist though they are thankfully few and far between. I would like to nominate More Than This. Sorry, I just think it's weak. >> What!? You'd better not let the Americans hear you say that, for some reason they think that mundane little ditty is a masterpiece.....strange/sad but true Yep. THIS AMERICAN would agree with that sentiment. A BEAUTIFUL melody and excellent production. Very dreamy and wistul. Bryan was back to form after Flesh and Blood which in my opinion was there weakest moment. Mundane? Just what is the critera for that? I had been a fan since 1972 so when Avalon came out and heard More Than This I just fell in love with them all over again. The song is so good, I wished it did not end. The last 3 minutes at the end lingers in my system much longer than say.. Cry, Cry, Cry. A masterpiece, no but damn near one. But as I said before, I have strange ear canals so I hear things a little differently . Of course I'm not European, but I have been there. Notre Dame still sounds like Rotterdam to me; shadows and all :) Yahoo! Sebastian, read the header. I listed my opinion of the weakest tracks, doesn't mean I don't like them. Ferry at his worst is still better and certainly more listenable than 99% of anything else. I prefer the early Roxy stuff and find that on the recent offerings it can be difficult to distinguish between tracks, therefore it is difficult to nominate a weakest track. For the record, ATGB is not my cup of tea at all, but I'm grateful that it seems to have rejuvenated Ferry and led to live performances of songs I never thought I'd hear live. I have thought about what it is that I like about the earlier stuff and the fact that I listen to quite a lot of Manzanera's solo work. Perhaps I'm a PM fan! Or it could be TGPT as I also listen to early Eno and Mackay! It's certainly the collective formerly known as Roxy Music. Reform Now I say!
