OK here is Brucie's review of "Love is the drug" which appeared in Sounds (NME?) "Very, very good beat to the whole thing. Potential disco hit. This has got all the things that I think the kids want. It's not necessarily what I want. Think it's a great title. The lyrics are good. I could hear what he was singing about, which is always a help you know, especially for us older folk. We like to know what they are singing about and sometimes they are so incoherent that it makes it a bit difficult. I like it very much. It's the kind of thing that if I went out I would like to jig around to it, and I love the line about when the lights go out you can guess the rest. That was very saucy. I think it deserves to do well and good luck to Roxy Music".......well said Brucie. Here is Tony Parsons review of "Sign of the times", which was the single of the week in the enemy...sorry NME. "Ah, this is the Modern Dance: Ferry's post Roxy band, taut and fluid, incessant and incisive his lyrical frame of reference loaded with fragmented subliminal imagery, overwhelmingly contemporary-your fantasies and realities realised! Echoes of the '70's, all your brain and body needed, it's very good indeed. If your grandchildren ever ask you what it was like when you were young, just play 'em this record and let the little bleeders use their imagination"......some of the lyrics were also printed. review of "FYP" (live), B-side of the week. "An incestuous mutation of Roxy/Ferry B-sides regurgitates a song from their second album-live! Always a killer with the frantic drumming, creating tension against the delicacy, and the boys do it justice on stage. Some more live numbers, please?" "Trash" was featured as "Comeback of the week"... "Welcome back to the Modern World lads. Pull up a Thirties intellectual and sit down. So we have "Trash" and "Trash 2", alternative treatments of the same modern girl. The front side is upbeat, spry and more or less par for the Roxy course, swiftly taking in a racy slab of discorama somewhere in the middle before petering out somewhat prematurely. The idea is taken up again overpage, and this time slowed down to a cruise, giving Ferry room to do the lizard croon, as sardonic and sexual as ever was. The pairing is an intriguing idea but unlikely to hit, as neither side is self sufficient. The real question is whether the fans have flown or not"........."Trash reached no. 40 in the UK, and no, the fans hadn't flown. The video/DVD of Paris has been brought forward for a summer release. As soon as I have date I'll post it. Thee is also a chance that the Castle Howard footage that will be shown on tv will be released later in the year. There will be a radio promo single issued to promote the "Slave" cd, this will contain "This Love" & "Sonnet No. 18". When I get information on the musician credits for "This Love" I'll post it. To go with the summer open air shows there will be a new tour booklet on sale. The work is already underway for a new studio album from Bryan. As soon as I am alowed to post further details then I will. Have a nice weekend, Tom. ___________________________________________________________________________ The indestructible tagline farts in your general direction. This way if there are continual problems something can possibly be done about it.
