Myself, I'm in the armpit of America(Biloxi, Mississippi), but New Orleans isn't too far away. I just picked up the Avalon CD with the album case. I love the feel of the "album sleeve." Anyways, I was wondering if there are any compilations of Roxy Music B-sides available? There's a good clip of Roxy in concert performing "Love Is The Drug" (Wembley '75?) although the studio version is dubbed over the live performance in much the same way as they did for the "Both Ends Burning" video. Presumably the upcoming "Slave To Love" compilation will also be TV promoted. It will set you back in the region of (I guess) $80 but you might find a few discounts at online shops. It's a good overview of Roxy's work and the 4th CD is made up of various B sides, remixes and singles that didn't feature on albums. It also has an excellent booklet. A similar box set of Bryan's solo work is in the pipeline. Both releases have interesting track listings although I'm sorry to see "Just Like You" dropped from the wider release. So many other candidates - "Just Another High", "Spin Me Round" and "Running Wild" being three of my all time favourite ballads. Jim did mention to me a while ago that the previously unreleased track comes from the "As Time Goes By" sessions. As for the Roxy "Early Years" compilation, I would guess this is aimed at the wider public, many of whom will be introduced to the early Roxy sound for pretty much the first time by the upcoming "Street Life" TV series. I guess it's an opportunity to exploit that and promote further the back catalogue, not untypical when an artist or band figure prominently in a film, TV show or, more recently, a TV ad. If it proves to be a vehicle by which some new fans discover Roxy then it can't be all bad.
