He has a way of taking something & making it his own. it's just i want to hear the stuff he recorded (in 1997 i think it was). of course i agree with you concerning the covers. a lot of stuff he covered during his career, i didn't know. i downloaded the originals or other versions from napster. and often i was pretty disappointed with them. it partly may have to do with the fact that i'm used to BF's versions. but honestly: it's just because our man is so damn great (he should get an award for his covering! someone should invent such a thing) sebastian ___________________________________________________________________________ The indestructible tagline farts in your general direction. Honestly my man, it really did make the week a lot easier. So vivid as well - I could just picture Stockman doing the duck walk solo with the French loaf. Laughter can be precious sometimes. The song that does it for me before an exam has to be "Same Old Scene"; on the headphones and up full blast. It flows beautifully, has a great neatness, and yet a wonderful power as well. Roxy have never collaborated so well instrumentally. The drum beat, the bass masterpiece from Spenner, Mackay's powerful sax, keyboards, wonderful guitar riffs. It's one of Ferry's most passionate vocal performances with simple yet catchy, cool lyrics. The fade out is brilliant too with the repeated lament that "Nothing lasts forever". Another magic RM moment. Anyway, due to lack of internet access I'm forced to make my annual summer sabbatical at the end of this week. Barring disasters I'll be doing a years postgrad in England starting in September/ October so we'll see you again then. Anyone who wants to stay in contact over the summer then mail me your phone number over the next few days. I'd love him to cover "She's Got You." I think he'd do that one well. Of course, it would be "He's Got You" if Ferry were to sing it. Most of Clines' songs have that barely-controlled, desperate quality I think Ferry could have a field day with.
