It's called "Dawn Of Electronica" and is in conjunction with Uncut magazine who are now spreading their talents to the compilation market. Track list as follows: GIORGIO MORODER - From Here to Eternity ULTRAVOX - Slow Motion TUBEWAY ARMY - Down In The Park JAPAN - Life In Tokyo JOHN FOXX - Underpass SUICIDE - Diamonds, Fur Coat, Champagne FAD GADGET - Ricky's Hand VISAGE - Fade To Grey SOFT CELL - Memorabilia DEPECHE MODE - Dreaming Of Me B-MOVIE - Rememberance Day ASSOCIATES - White Car In Germany A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS - I Ran DAF - Kebabtraume CABARET VOLTAIRE - Yashar YELLO I Love You ART OF NOISE - Beat Box (Diversion One) PROPAGANDA - Dr. Mabuse How many of those people owe their careers not only to Roxy Music, but Bowie and the Velvet Underground. These ads were comissioned by the promoter (CSS Stellar Ents), and Virgin gave clearance to use As Time Goes By, Let's Stick Together and Jealous Guy. All crammed into 30 seconds! The voice over I used is also a massive Roxy fan (I keep telling him to join Avalon) and so it was one of those moments where everything comes perfectly in to line. The shows are Castle Howard, Blickling Hall, Tatton Park and Ragley Hall, and will be heard on the following radio stations from Monday for one week - Stray FM, Magic 828 (Leeds), Vibe FM, Signal 1, Big AM, Imagine, MFM and Radio Wyvern. And the power of radio advertising forced me to part with my hard-earned for some Castle Howard tickets, so despite my insistance that I just didn't like the idea of all this stately homes nonesense I finally submitted! See you there! BTW, if you're listening out for the ads, don't expect art! There's 11 seconds of ATGB, 4 seconds of LST and 15 seconds of Jealous Guy, and a deep voice blabbing all over it. The script reads like this: "Bryan Ferry - one of the greatest stars of the last 30 years. And you can see him live on ----- in the beautiful settings of -------- performing his classic songs and Roxy Music favorites........Bryan Ferry, in a unique picnic style concert and with a stunning firework finale. Tickets from --------- or from Ticketmaster on 08701 51 44 44". I didn't write it either. Keep listening and let me know if you hear it! I think I've heard 4 or 5 Roxy/Ferry tunes on the radio today (Jealous Guy, Slave to love, Painted smile, The main thing & Carrickfergus). Yeah, that's 5. 2. Ferry's "I'm in the mood for love" features in a long commercial which is sent many times each day on all norwegian channels. It shows two old guys who come to a cafe/petrol-station somewhere in the Mid-West (US). They start flirting & dancing with two old ladies who work there. One the guys sends a message on his mobile-phone to his doctor, and shortly after gets an express-packet with Viagra. This is a commercial for telecom-company (mobile-phones). Bry sings all the time. 3. Last but not least. Bry come to play in Oslo for the 3rd time since October. (Nobel peace price- gig + Konserthuset 5th of Feb+ will come to the Norwegian wood festival 10th of June). It's hard to believe, since he hadn't played here since 1976 (I think). Sometime in February 2000 I decided I would not place further business with the web site. A pity, really. How have the winds been in Boulder this Spring? Best wishes.
