What a disgrace. In work 45 mins early, not 'dedication to the job' or some old nonsense, just the fact that I couldn't sleep. Playlist ? Somewhat disrupted due to the arrival late yesterday of about 90 new Singles, and 30 new Albums, all (unknown Bands) not-yet-released thingys, so a quick flick through the first 30 secs of each now, just in case something catches my ear. Must be done, have found loads of goodies this way before, that I would have missed otherwise. Carte Noir Coffee and Smarties (Red-topped Tubes only - it's the LAW) to fuel the passion within. Much agonising and head scratching at home earlier over what to bring for playlist today. "Too much for one day" as the man said, so some will have to be be held over for tomorrows delights too. Big mixed bag. So here goes, Russ (where the hell you been, anyway ?) and funnily enough, Mr. Martino - 'Almost Blue' was a consideration this morning, until I had the vision of customers seeing me 'all misty eyed' during 'I'm Your Toy'. Gets me every time. Declans most emotional vocal performance, and right up there with the acid-sharp 'I Want You'. The chosen ones : Mike Scott - Still Burning Sadistic Mika Band - Hot ! Menu Velvet Underground - Andy Warhol Barry Adamson - Oedipus Schmoedipus Elvis Costello - Imperial Bedroom (perversely enough, the Album that actually contains the track 'Almost Blue') Nut - Nut Pretty Things - S.F. Sorrow Serge Gainsbourg - You're Under Arrest Matthew Sweet - In Reverse Shangri-Las - 65' Joni Mitchell - Hejira Dimitri From Paris - Sacre Bleu John Cooper Clarke - Disguise In Love Roxy Music - (Disc 4 of 'Thrill' Box) Dexter Gordon - Dexter Calling Emiliana Torrini - Love In The Time Of Science (going to see her at the Borderline tonight !) Julia did tell me after the Brussels gig, but in the beer sodden chaos that followed in a local Bar with a bunch of Belgian Ferryites, I completely forgot the title. Also, the 2nd number, by the Quartet - has been quoted as 'Por Una Cebeza' - but that title doesn't seem to be listed anywhere, not even on the Net when doing a 'song search' - so I'm unsure if it's absolutely correct.
