Anyone else think this is a vastly overlooked, underrated song? It is definitely in my top 3 RM/BF tracks and all-time rock songs. I don't know that it's overlooked (by me anyway) but any song in the same album as 'Street Life', 'Song For Europe' and 'Mother of Pearl' might understandably have a hard time getting a proper look in. I certainly agree about 'Amazona' being one of THE classic Roxy songs. I vividly remember the first time I played 'Amazona' in *gasp* stereo (a Ferguson Studio 7 music centre, as it happens) and being astonished to hear Paul Thompson's mid-section hi-hat playing for the first time ! My second revelation was (on buying my second LP copy) that the white noise at the very end of 'Amazona' wasn't just surface noise on the vinyl after all... For me, 'Amazona' was the proof I needed that the band could still be innovative in its use of electronics and signal processing equipment even without Eno... Regards, Ivor. Paul answered this question for me:- When you wrote the b-side to All I Want Is You, Your Application's Failed, how did you put it accross to the rest of the bans. Did you (A)Write it down (B) Play it on a keyboard or something(C)did you hum it to them or (D) none some or all of those and (E) some other way. I also presume that that is your geordie brouge on it and not Bryan remembering the good old days. Pauls reply John, I wrote it on acoustic guitar , went to Phils house, showed him the chords, then we just went into the studio and did it !. Yes it was me saying the magic words. The track was about when I went for a job on the London underground ,when I entered the office, the guy just looked at my hair and said those words.
