While I have all the anal retentive list members' collective attention :-) (I am one too) does anyone have a picture disc CD of FYP that has been divorced from it's RM and Stranded pic disc colleagues? I have the other two but missed out by five minutes (allegedly) on the FYP disc. Why anyone would want to split up the three pic disc boxed set like this is anyone's guess - but I would like to reunite a FYP pic disc with the other two. All I know is that the 're-broadcast' I taped off BBC radio back in 1978 had 'DTS' but no 'IEDH'. Ivor wrote: Assuming it's an audio tape: If your cassette is screwed together you simply undo the screws (there are probably five) and carefully lift the top half of the cassette shell off. Lift the empty spool out of the cassette, then slide the small clip out of the spool. Wind the tape snugly onto the spool that remains in the cassette (this work is best done with the cassette flat on a horizontal surface). Now you should be ready to thread the tape through the cassette: take tape's end and bring it down between the side of the cassette and the very first pin that is located close to the cassette wall (approx. .25cm from side and approx. 1.3cm up from the bottom left corner). Continue to thread around the outside of the "large" left pulley toward the outside of the right "large" pulley (the tape will be threaded with only three sections visible after reassembling the cassette). Now secure the tape's loose end onto the spool using the clip you removed earlier and place it to it's original state. Replace the top half of cassette shell, return screws, and hopefully you should have a functional cassette. Hint: It will be helpful if you take apart a cassette that is intact, to see exactly how the tape should thread around the cassette mechanism. Good luck. Reecey... PS It's what I always refer to as 'Roxy Day' tomorrow, April 6th, whereby if i'm at work (which I am tomorrow) only Roxy can be played in my Shop - all day. Not even BF solo is allowed on this special day. The reason ? It's my 27th 'anniversary' tomorrow, 27 years to the day in fact, when I saw Roxy Music for the very first time, April 6th, 1973, at the (then) Greens Playhouse, Glasgow. Seat CC42 in the Balcony, don't ya know, the Ticket a mere snip at 60p. Support was Lloyd Watson (chum of Manzos - think he played on a few of his solo bits later) then followed by the excellent Sharks, who of course featured Chris Spedding (though I was rather oblivious to that fact at the time). First number : 'Do The Strand'. I always thought it was weird how there was no-one actually at 'centre-stage' for most of the gig. Eno on the left behind banks of keyboards and twiddly things with strange names, Ferry on the right. Only during the final numbers did Ferry venture, rather nervously, to the centre. Manzo with THOSE glasses. Mackay with the bubble trousers. Couldn't even see Thommo behind the massive kit. Encore : 'Grey Lagoons', with Eno changed from the wonderful peacock jacket (I'm still waiting for that damn thing to turn up at a memorabilia auction - then it's mine !) to a silver glam number, beating a tambourine and sharing backing vox on 'Lagoons' with our Mr. Riff... Bought the poster advertising FYP at the gig (since lost - will pay good dosh for another !) and went home, and life, frankly, would never be the same again. Tomorrow will be, as they say, a musical orgasm. My first musical memory. Indeed I never saw Roxy live. When they toured Avalon I couldn't afford to go :-(, however I did eventually catch up the man at the SECC 1988 show and tours thereafter. I'm just emailing really to say 'hello', to ask a question and in sympathy with an earlier email about the old anal retentiveness collector bug. When I was at my worst I had not only all the normal vinyl copies of the LPs but also the box set, the different versions of LPs, as well as the CDs. I'm glad to say I am now cured and live quite happily with one copy of each. I spent a good part of last year selling on any doubles I had in my collection of any artist ie CD and LP. Managed to sell all apart from my Cocteau Twins collection which is still LP and CD and cassette.....one day. My question is about the Valentine CD which I have seen mentioned and I saw earlier this week. What are the tracks on it and is it worth purchasing? I, too, wonder where he heard that. I would like to think he heard it here, but it may be one of those instances of the "collective unconscious" at work, and reviewers worldwide feel compelled at one time or another to make that comparison.
