I'll try to arrange something for you. Bryan' hair looks is growing and he looked like 10 years ago. Dressed in black with white shirt. A great smile. He felt very calm. All his musicians were with him. I think this was recorded when he was singing in Paris. The band played also on another song by Patrick Bruel. One of the most pleasing things about Ferry's tours is his willingness to perform old material and to constantly change the selection year(s) to year albeit around a framework of those "over familiar" songs you mention ,. I'd love , for instance if he replaced "JG" with "Grey Lagoons" or even "If I Didn't Care" but I suspect that the average punter at the gig is NOT a "sad" anorak like myself and wants to hear the "hits" and Bryan always gives the crowd what they want. Work? You don't want to know!!! Yes I'm a big BF/RM fan. It all started in 1972 with Roxy. Hollland was one of the first countries Roxy performed outside the UK. They were and still are very populair in Holland. I started to collect 6 years ago. I try to find all sorts of things. In the begining when you got to buy the regular stuff, its payable, but now, when your looking for special things like bootlegs, signed items etc. etc. you have to save your pocket money for some weeks. I think you know what I mean. About your question who I favor more..., As I said, it all started with Roxy and I still love that first period. But after Avalon the music of Roxy became more sweeter and more commercial. With BF solo-works I somethimes have to listen to it severel times before I strat to like it. This was also with ATGB. But after I visited the concerts at Antwerpen and Amsterdam this year, I like this "side-stap" of Bryan. After a February of furore and factional in-fighting, March was a much milder month (alliterative, huh?) Suddenly love is all around us, with only a couple of stubborn diehards persisting with their petulance. Let's try and stay like this folks. It's much more pleasant this way. We just need that sig file madness to come to an end... ;-) Our membership now stands at 305 - 97 on the digest and 208 on the main list. This is a slight monthly decline in numbers. As Avalon grows in numbers, so does the number of daily postings. There was a time when we had just four or five per day, now it's many times that number. Personally I value all opinions here, and I think it's our diversity of culture and opinion that makes this a great forum, and it's fantastic that we can still find new and interesting threads, but can I ask however, (on behalf on many I'm sure) that we try and stay reasonably on topic, and that we trim our replies. The sheer volume of mail must be off-putting for some, and this is reflected in the number of people unsub*ribing. If you are unhappy about the number of posts, rather than leaving, do consider the digest version, a compilation of the previous day's posts. (Although even this runs to three or four compilations some days!) See the FAQ at www.smoe.org/lists/avalon.info for details. For me, one of the most pleasing aspects of our recent recruitment is the number of nationalities now represented on the list. In recent weeks we have had further new subs*ibers from France, Italy, Australia, Spain, Holland and Germany. Most pleasing of all, we now have our first members from both Poland and Austria. A warm welcome to you all. I will try and post a complete list of all the nationalities represented here next month. It's nice that we are becoming a truly global forum. A question. Are any of the African nations represented here? If not, perhaps this month's South Africa dates will help rectify this? New (compilation) output and concert dates arrive almost daily, with an accompanying media blitz. If Ferry's intention is to restore himself to public notice, he's certainly going the right way about it. As ever, Avalon has offered advance notice of all events and releases - it pays to be here. Finally, some people have mailed me privately thinking that I am the list administrator. I'm not, and in fact I'm entirely self-appointed in this statistician role. If you like these monthly round-ups, I'm happy to continue, hopefully with more detail in future. They might form a history of Avalon events in time. I've had only positive feedback so far, and I thank those of you who have taken the trouble to write. I wish she'd play some decent venues here in the UK. Of the current repertoire, I think Liane would be superb on 'Lover Come Back To Me', 'Love Me Or Leave Me' or 'Just One Of Those Things'. For Patricia, it would have to be the obvious choices, 'Falling In Love Again' or 'September Song'. With all three together, how about 'I'm In The Mood For Love', 'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes' or hey, go wild - 'Bitter Sweet' (with Fredericks, Goldman & Jones backing !!) ? Enjoy the concert (and tell her to play London next time !). Salut, Ivor. n.p.
