he didn't know it existed, jim hasn't mentioned it to him so that bryan can still make remarks like jim lawn knows more about the history of roxy music than any one else. so what if he does. he doesn't share it like the people on the list here seem to be only too willing to.i know some of the things that he is exposed to is in confidence and that he is in a position of trust, i appreciate that, but i am sure that the information we get here regarding shows etc could come as quickly from our representative mr lawn. i read here of some people sending him stuff at their expense with all sorts of promises and not even so much as a thank you, i know some people too who sent him things to just get the cold shoulder. he complained about people calling him at home but he was the one who put his name in neon lights on the album sleeves & (lack of) information service letters to boost his ego so what's he to expect. of course mr ferry would never hear of any complaints about the information service as jim lawn is employed to be a buffer between the fans and bryan, which i totally understand, so any complaints would be very difficult to get far enough without jim putting some sort of block in the way. he has got it all sown up at our expense if you read this mr lawn please get some help to do the information service properly, please get important information to the fans as quick as possible through this list. for every subscriber here i am sure there are another 5 people who they pass information on to we don't want what you can't tell we don't want to here what you can't play us we just want a decent service as up to date as possible. kate maley ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com - -------------------- To disentangle yourself from these bickering numbnuts, mail majordomo@smoe.org with: unsubscribe avalon ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Feb 2000 11:12:34 -0000 From: "Robert Whiteford" Subject: Re: [AVALON] Newsflash: Ferry open air concert in UK on June 23rd Robert, Sounds brilliant. I'm sorry to go on about Mr Hubbard again but does anybody know of anything that has gone on between him and Roxy, especially Phil Manzanera? I didn't see Neil in the "Avalon" video either, and seeing as he played a pretty vital role on that album his non-appearance is a bit of a puzzler. With the help of Jim Spellman I'm pretty sure it was Neil who played the lead guitar on "More Than This", which I'm sure everyone will agree is remarkable. However Phil's website did not want to give too much detail away as to that song and would not tell me who played the lead guitar. Does anybody know of any individual Roxy song release videos that the great Mr Hubbard actually appears on, and how annoyed was Phil of having to contend with another guitarist? I think Bryan could do a great interpretation of the piece since it could be adapted to just about any style, and could be radically altered, say, in the way Ferry altered "I Put A Spell On You" by Hawkins. Whatever suits Mr. Ferry's fancy. Phil Manzanera could do a blistering guitar, or if the Ferry's interpretation is more tender, the current string sirens might assist. Maybe, Andy McKay could blow some wails into it. And since I'm dreaming, lets get Brian Eno to wizard the effects, too.
