Hi Heather... Yes, we're in North London - and i've had the Shop in this location for just over 5 years. Styles/tastes always changing - though we are known now for half-decent prices on 'new' CDs than anything else - but we do a lot of s/hand CDs & Vinyl too, interesting how we sell as many LPs as we do CDs - and most of those customers are actually schoolkids - who love the 'Covers' - and feel the cover (sleeve jacket) is an integral part of the whole thing. Mainly - it's the 'biggies' they want originals of : Floyd, Stones, Beatles, Hendrix, Zep, Dylan etc..Nice to see that happening, I think. Interesting too how my Vinyl sales have steadily increased over the last 2 years - I guess people are beginning to notice that the older material can sound a bit crap on CD - no 'bass' on them, so they say...(Listen to early Beatles, Kinks, Yardbirds etc on CD and you'll see how badly they have been mastered). As for musicians popping in here - we're lucky to have got a 'gallery' of album covers on the wall now (by the artists concerned) that we've asked them to sign when they've come in (strictly not for sale !) and they include Ferry, Eurythmics, Suede, Sleeper, Terry Hall(Specials, FB3), George Harrison, Gary Numan, Bob Dylan, Sparks, The Pretenders and Kate Bush to date. There have been many others - but i'm only here half the time - and of course they can only join the 'gallery' if we've got one of their Albums in stock, to have signed and put on the wall...It is quite a 'musical/artist' area though - there are a few Studios here, and a lot of actors and DJs live around here too. Very bohemian, apparently. This district is also famous (infamous ?) for the sheer amount of restaurants here - many to choose from. As well as work here, I also live in the general area. So does Martinot. Sadly though, the local 'guides' mention neither of us. Probably just as well.
